Für diesen Luftfilterkasten werden zwei Medien angeboten, und nichts dazwischen. Das Standardgewebe liegt bei 80 µm und 5.050 l/m²/sek; der SM240T12 liegt bei 7 µm und 560. Die Zwischenstufen, die es für andere Sprint-Filter-Gehäuse gibt, sind bei der Tuareg-Auflistung schlicht nicht dabei, was die Wahl ungewöhnlich eindeutig macht: entweder das gewöhnliche Straßengewebe oder das feinste Material im Sortiment. Fahrer, die für mäßig staubige Strecken eine abgestufte Antwort erwarten, werden sie hier nicht finden, und die praktische Antwort auf diese Lücke ist es wert, ausgeführt zu werden.

Lässt sich das Medium nicht abstufen, wird das Intervall abgestuft
Für Luft, die staubig ist, aber nicht durchgehend, liegt die Antwort in diesem Gehäuse nicht in einem anderen Gewebe – sondern in einem kürzeren Abstand zwischen den Kontrollen des Luftfilterkastens mit dem Standardmedium. Ein Panel, das nach jeder staubigen Etappe durchgeblasen wird, verbringt sein Leben nahe dem sauberen Ende seiner Zusetzungskurve, was den größten Teil dessen ausmacht, was ein feineres Medium gebracht hätte. Den SM240T12 sollten Sie für Einsätze reservieren, bei denen diese Disziplin nicht ausreicht: längere Pisten, tiefer Staub in der Trockenzeit, lange Strecken hinter anderen Maschinen, bei denen die Luft nie klar wird.
Beide Seiten der feinsten Stufe
Dichter bedeutet mehr Rückhaltung und weniger Durchlass – ein bewusst eingegangener Tausch, der in beide Richtungen wirkt. Dieselbe Dichte, die den Feinanteil einfängt, setzt sich bei gleichem Luftvolumen auch schneller zu, sodass die feinste Stufe häufiger Aufmerksamkeit verlangt, nicht seltener. Nichts davon berührt die Leistung: Ein Panel in einem unveränderten Luftfilterkasten lässt einen Serien-Tuareg genau so stark bleiben, wie er war, ganz gleich, woraus es besteht. Der eigentliche Gewinn ist ein Ansaugwiderstand, der niedrig beginnt und durch Reinigung auf diesen Wert zurückgebracht wird.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft, von der sauberen Seite nach außen gerichtet, treibt die Last aus dem Vlies zurück nach außen, statt tiefer hinein – die Richtung ist bei dieser Stufe wichtiger als bei jeder anderen. Lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel erledigt, was Luft übrig lässt; das Panel gründlich ausspülen und vollständig in umlaufender Luft trocknen lassen. Keine Hitze, kein Heißluftgebläse, keine offene Flamme, und vor dem Wiedereinbau kein Öl. Das Wartungsblatt liegt im Downloads-Tab bereit.
