Die 14-Mikron-Matte kostet weniger als die Standard-Gewebeplatte für dieses Airbox – und das ist kein Rabatt, sondern so ist die Preisliste aufgebaut. Über den gesamten Katalog hinweg tragen die Vlies-Medien überall einen festen Preis, während der Preis des Standardelements mit dem Gehäuse variiert. Ein Preisvergleich zwischen zwei Medien sagt daher etwas über den Airbox aus, nicht über das Gewebe.

Was der Preis nicht entscheiden kann
Wäre das feinere Medium einfach das bessere, wäre es teurer – und das ist es nicht. Wäre das günstigere der Kompromiss, würde es weniger filtern – und das tut es nicht, es hält mehr zurück. Die beiden Zahlen, auf die es ankommt, bewegen sich in entgegengesetzte Richtungen, und der Preis folgt keiner von beiden: 1.800 l/m²/sek gegenüber 5.050 beim Standardgewebe, im Tausch gegen eine Matte, die weit mehr von dem zurückhält, was in trockener Luft schwebt. Wie dieser Tausch für Sie ausfällt, muss anhand der von Ihnen gefahrenen Straßen entschieden werden, denn der Katalog stellt hier keine Rangfolge auf.
Wann die Matte die richtige Antwort ist
Trockener Schotter, unbefestigte Straßen im Sommer, Fahren hinter anderen Fahrzeugen, eine trockene Jahreszeit, die jedes Jahr wiederkehrt – das ist das Argument für SM261P14. Eine Maschine, die auf sauberem Asphalt lebt, ist mit dem Standardelement besser bedient, denn der Durchflussverlust wird jeden Tag hingenommen, nicht nur an staubigen. Keines der beiden Elemente fügt Leistung hinzu: In einem unveränderten Airbox lässt dieses eine Serien-500RR genau so stark, wie sie war, und was sich ändert, ist der Ansaugwiderstand und wie stabil er bleibt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Ein Vlies trennt sich langsam von seiner Beladung, reinigen Sie SM261P14 daher mit Geduld: Druckluft auf der sauberen Seite, nach außen gearbeitet, und mehr Zeit als eine Gewebeplatte benötigt. Lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel nimmt, was Luft nicht schafft, gespült bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Trocknen Sie es nur in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur und auf keine andere Weise – Hitze ruiniert die Matte unsichtbar. Bauen Sie es trocken wieder ein, ohne etwas aufzusprühen.
