Fast alles, was eine aktuelle MT-10 beherrschbar macht – die elektronische Drosselklappe, die Traktionskontrolle, die Fahrmodi – wird aus Sensordaten im Luftstrom hinter diesem Element berechnet. Das ist der Teil der Maschine, an den niemand denkt, wenn er einen Filter für staubige Bedingungen sucht, und er schließt still und leise eine ganze Kategorie von Antworten aus. Der Sprint Filter SM238P14 ist ein trockenes Spezial-Vlies mit einer Filterfeinheit von 14 Mikron und einem bewerteten Durchfluss von 1.800 l/m²/sek, gemacht für Staub, den Alltag und lange Strecken. Nichts daran ist geölt, und das ändert sich nie.

Warum in dieser Ansaugung nichts geölt werden sollte
Ein geölter Baumwollfilter funktioniert, indem seine Fasern klebrig gemacht werden, und die Dosierung bleibt dem überlassen, der ihn zuletzt gewartet hat. Zu wenig, und das Medium ist einfach grob; zu viel, und der Überschuss geht dorthin, wohin auch die Luft geht. Bei einer Maschine, deren Drosselklappen von einem Motor bewegt werden, der auf Sensordaten reagiert, ist das ein schlechter Ort für eine Variable, die niemand misst. Es gibt auch ein Filtrationsargument, und Sprint Filters eigener Vergleich liefert es: Bei 100-Mikron-Partikeln hält ihr trockenes P08-Gewebe 93,13 Prozent zurück, vierlagige geölte Baumwolle 76,42 Prozent. Trockene Medien brauchen das Öl nicht, um ihre Arbeit zu tun.
Was 14 Mikron kosten
Feiner bedeutet mehr Rückhaltung und weniger Durchfluss – ein einziger Kompromiss, keine Leiter von besser zu schlechter. Die Straßen- und Staubmedien lesen sich durchgehend so: 80 Mikron und ein bewerteter Durchfluss von 5.050 l/m²/sek für den P08, 37 und 4.500 für den wasserabweisenden P037, dieser P14 bei 14 und 1.800, dann 7 und 560 für den T12. Das Racing-Medium F1-85 steht außerhalb dieser Linie – eine eigene, patentierte Webart mit 15.000 l/m²/sek, deren Name keine Porengröße angibt. Ein Liter-Vierzylinder verlangt nahe seiner Drehzahlobergrenze echten Luftdurchsatz, daher ist dieses Medium eine bewusste Entscheidung und keine Standardwahl: Es gehört auf eine MT-10, die ihre Sommer auf trockenen Nebenstraßen, Schotterparkplätzen und Baustellen-Autobahnen verbringt. Auf sauberem Asphalt ist der P08 die bessere Balance. Keiner von beiden verleiht einem Serienmotor mehr Leistung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Führen Sie Druckluft von der sauberen Seite zu, sodass der Staub durch die Fläche austritt, die ihn aufgenommen hat. Bei starker Verschmutzung helfen lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel, gefolgt von einer Spülung, bis das Ablaufwasser klar ist. Es wird trocken wieder eingebaut, luftgetrocknet im Luftzug statt am Heizkörper oder in Flammennähe, und kein Schritt des Vorgangs fügt Öl hinzu. Sprint Filter legt den SM238P14 auf die Lebensdauer des Motorrads aus, sodass diese kurze Routine die gesamte Wartung ist; das Herstellerblatt liegt im Downloads-Tab.
