Was tatsächlich bestimmt, wie eine Street Twin atmet, ist eine Linie und kein einzelner Punkt: wie sich der Ansaugwiderstand über die gesamte Strecke zwischen einer Wartung und der nächsten verhält. Der Sprint Filter P14 PM174P14 hat dabei eine ehrliche Komplikation. Er ist das feine Medium im Programm, hält Partikel bei 14 Mikron zurück, wo das Standard-P08 bei 80 arbeitet, und lässt dadurch bauartbedingt weniger Luft durch – 1.800 l/m²/sek gegenüber 5.050. Ein feineres Medium setzt sich auch schneller zu. Der Grund, warum das vertretbar ist, ist zugleich der Grund, warum es sich lohnt, es zu besitzen: Sie können es mit einer Druckluftleitung so oft wie Sie wollen wieder in den Ausgangszustand zurückversetzen.

Die Form der Kurve, nicht die Höhe des Punkts
Ein Zelluloseelement kennt nur eine Richtung. Es verlässt die Verpackung sauber, sein Widerstand steigt beim Zusetzen, und es kommt nie zurück – der einzige Weg nach unten ist ein neues Teil. Ein waschbares Element steigt ebenfalls, und weil es feiner ist, steigt es sogar früher als ein 80-Mikron-Medium es täte, aber jedes Mal, wenn es durchgeblasen wird, fällt es zurück auf seinen Ausgangswert. Über ein Jahr Fahren ergibt sich so nicht ein langer Anstieg, sondern eine Reihe kurzer, und die nützliche Folge ist, dass der Zustand des Ansaugtrakts nicht mehr davon abhängt, wann die nächste Wartung zufällig fällig ist.
Warum diese Maschine in der Familie es sich verdient
Die Street Twin ist das Alltagsmitglied dieser Airbox-Familie und meist diejenige mit der höchsten Jahresfahrleistung. Ein Element altert nach dem Luftvolumen, das durch es hindurchgeflossen ist, nicht nach dem Rechnungsdatum, also erreicht das Motorrad, das am meisten gefahren wird, als erstes das Ende eines Intervalls. Es ist auch das Motorrad, dessen Besitzer am wenigsten geneigt ist, zweimal im Jahr ein Wartungsteil zu bestellen. Beide Tatsachen weisen in dieselbe Richtung: ein Teil, das gereinigt statt gekauft wird. Was es nicht tut, ist das Motorrad schneller zu machen. Der Gewinn ist eine feinere Barriere und ein Widerstand, der sich auf Wunsch wieder auf seinen Ausgangswert zurücksetzen lässt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft von der sauberen Seite, nach außen gearbeitet, und der PM174P14 kommt trocken zurück. Nach einem harten Winter oder einem staubigen Sommer waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel und spülen Sie, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Das Trocknen geschieht ausschließlich an der frischen Luft: nicht mit Hitze, nicht in der Nähe einer Flamme, und es kommt erst zurück, wenn es ganz durchgetrocknet ist. Ölen kommt dabei nie vor. Passform & Kompatibilität
