Ein Element ist nur die halbe Miete eines Filters. Die andere Hälfte ist die Box drumherum und die Dichtung an der Stelle, wo beide zusammentreffen, und Luft kennt keine Treue zum Medium: Sie nimmt den Weg, der sie am wenigsten kostet. Führt dieser Weg am Rand des Elements vorbei statt hindurch, beschreibt der Wert auf der Box nichts Reales mehr. Das ist an einer Street Cup besonders erwähnenswert, denn der Sprint Filter P14 PM174P14 ist das feine Medium im Programm – 14 Mikron Rückhaltung gegenüber 80 beim Standard-P08 –, und ein feineres Medium bedeutet eine etwas größere Druckdifferenz über dem Element, was eine etwas größere Einladung für ungefilterte Luft ist, daran vorbeizugelangen.

Der korrekte Einbau gehört zur Spezifikation
Setzen Sie das Element gerade in seine Position, sodass die Dichtfläche ringsum plan aufliegt, ohne umgeschlagene Kante und ohne überstehende Ecke. Setzen Sie den Deckel ohne Verkanten wieder auf, und ziehen Sie die Befestigungen gleichmäßig statt nacheinander auf volle Kraft an, damit der Deckel gerade aufliegt. Prüfen Sie, dass nichts auf der Dichtlinie eingeklemmt wurde. Schließen Sie dann die Box. Fünf sorgfältige Minuten schützen den gesamten Sinn eines feinen Elements, und ein feines Element, das umgangen wird, filtert nicht besser als gar keines.
Ist das feine Medium das richtige für eine Street Cup
Manchmal nicht. Die Street Cup ist die sportlichste Maschine an dieser Airbox, mit tiefem Lenker, und ihre Besitzer neigen dazu, sie in kurzen, entschlossenen Etappen an trockenen Tagen zu fahren. Wenn ein nennenswerter Teil Ihres Fahrens hoch im Drehzahlbereich stattfindet oder wenn das Motorrad Trackdays sieht, dann ist der P08 das passende Medium, und der P14 ist ein bewusster Verzicht auf Luftdurchsatz, den Sie lieber behalten würden. Der P14 verdient sich seinen Platz an der Street Cup, die auch die alltägliche Arbeit erledigt: Verkehr, Pendeln, Sommerstaub, der nie wie Staub aussieht. Dort kostet Sie die feinere Barriere Durchsatz, den Sie ohnehin nicht genutzt haben, und kauft Rückhaltung genau bei den Partikelgrößen, die einen Zylinder erreichen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft ist die Wartung: saubere Seite, nach außen gearbeitet, dann kommt der PM174P14 trocken zurück. Eine schmutzige Saison ist ein Fall für lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Danach: frische Luft – es muss vor dem Wiedereinbau vollständig durchgetrocknet sein, und Hitze und Flamme spielen dabei nie eine Rolle. Es wird nie geölt. Passform & Kompatibilität
