Die Laufleistung einer Speed Triple S entsteht selten auf großen Touren. Sie summiert sich in kurzen Etappen, dem Arbeitsweg, dem Botengang, der Sonntagsrunde, ein paar Dutzend Kilometern auf einmal, über fünf Modelljahre und oft mehr als einen Besitzer hinweg. Jede dieser Fahrten zieht eine erhebliche Menge Straßenluft durch ein einziges Element, und der feine Mineralanteil darin bleibt nicht am Luftfilterkasten hängen. Genau das ist die Begründung des Sprint Filter P14: ein trockenes Vliesmedium mit 14 Mikron Filterfeinheit, gewählt für Rückhaltung statt für Durchfluss.

Wohin der Staub geht, der durchkommt
Grobkörnige Partikel sind der leichte Teil; fast jedes Element fängt sie ab. Entscheidend für den Zustand eines Motors bei hoher Laufleistung ist der feine, harte Mineralstaub, der luftgetragen bleibt. Er wird mit dem Gemisch angesaugt, arbeitet sich zwischen Kolbenring und Zylinderlaufbahn und wird in die Ölwanne hinabgetragen, wo das Öl ihn an Lagerflächen vorbeizirkuliert, bis der nächste Ölwechsel einen Teil davon entfernt. Nichts davon ist dramatisch, und nichts davon geschieht auf einer einzigen Fahrt. Es ist die Rechnung eines langlebigen Motorrads – und der Grund, warum eine 14-Mikron-Spezifikation zu einer Maschine passt, die über Jahre auf normalen Straßen laufen soll.
Der Kompromiss, klar benannt
Feiner bedeutet mehr zurückgehalten und weniger durchgelassen. Der P14 liegt zwischen dem P037 mit 37 Mikron und dem Offroad-T12 mit 7 Mikron, und er lässt 1.800 Liter pro Quadratmeter pro Sekunde durch, wo der Standard-P08 5.050 durchlässt. Keines davon ist der bessere Filter; es sind Antworten auf unterschiedliche Luft. Wird diese Speed Triple S hart auf sauberen Straßen gefahren oder taucht gelegentlich bei einem Trackday auf, ist der P08 das besser abgestimmte Element, und es ergibt keinen Sinn, Durchfluss für Rückhaltung zu bezahlen, die das Motorrad nicht braucht. Der P14 gehört auf die Maschine, die Staub als Normalfall erlebt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der ganze Sinn des PM193P14 ist, dass er herauskommt, gereinigt wird und wieder hineinkommt. Luft erledigt den größten Teil der Arbeit: die Leitung auf die stromabwärtige Fläche richten, die, aus der der Motor ansaugt, und den Schmutz auf demselben Weg hinauslassen, auf dem er kam. Ist er wirklich schmutzig, in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen und gut spülen. Dann vollständig und auf natürliche Weise trocknen lassen, nie über einem Heizgerät, nie mit einer Heißluftpistole, nie in der Nähe einer Flamme, da Hitze das Medium beschädigt. Niemals ölen. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Gebaut für die Triumph Speed Triple S, 1050 ccm, 2016 bis 2020. Sie ist eine von drei Maschinen, die dieses Element bedient, neben der Speed Triple R (2016–2017) und der Speed Triple RS (2018–2020), die alle denselben Luftfilterkasten teilen. Es sitzt im Seriengehäuse an der ursprünglichen Position.
