Eine GT oder GX wird in Etappen geplant, und eine lange Etappe hält selten nur eine Art von Luft bereit. Derselbe Tag kann hinter Autobahn-Gischt beginnen, mittags eine Regenfront durchqueren und auf einer Talstraße enden, auf der Landwirtschaftsverkehr trockenen Split über die gesamte Fahrbahn verteilt hat. Fahrer fassen all das unter einer Überschrift zusammen — schlechte Bedingungen — und suchen dann nach dem einen Filter, der das abdeckt. Sprint Filter baut diesen Filter nicht: Das Sortiment beantwortet Wasser und Staub getrennt, weil es getrennte Probleme sind. Der P14 im PM236P14 ist die Antwort auf Staub.

Zwei Schutzmedien, zwei unterschiedliche Probleme
Wasser und mineralischer Staub verhalten sich nicht gleich, und die Medien behandeln sie nicht gleich. Der P037 ist das wasserabweisende Medium, gewebt bei 37 Mikron und mit einem Durchfluss von 4.500 Litern pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde; er ist für nasse Bedingungen ausgelegt. Der P14 ist eine völlig andere Konstruktion, ein trockenes Vlies mit 14 Mikron und 1.800, gemacht für Staub, Alltagsbetrieb und lange Strecken. Noch weiter unten liegt der T12 mit 7 Mikron und 560, für Geländeeinsatz und Wüstenfahrten. Bei einer Tourenmaschine ist die Frage nicht, welches Medium am stärksten ist, sondern welche Bedingungen Ihr Jahr ausmachen: südlicher Staub und ungefegte Nebenstraßen sprechen für die eine Richtung, stehendes Wasser und Wintersalz für die andere.
Was das feine Medium bei einem Liter-Vierzylinder kostet
1.800 gegenüber 5.050 ist kein Detail, über das man hinweglesen sollte. Ein feineres Medium hält mehr zurück und lässt weniger durch; das ist ein Kompromiss, keine Rangfolge, und bei einem Reihenvierzylinder dieser Größe ist die eingetauschte Hälfte real. Dieser Motor hat im oberen Drehzahldrittel einen echten Appetit, und eine beladene GT, die zu einem langen Überholvorgang ansetzt, ist genau der Moment, in dem die Reserve gebraucht worden wäre. Also muss es in beide Richtungen gesagt werden: Kein Einsatzelement macht ein Serienmotorrad spürbar schneller, den P08 eingeschlossen. Was ein Element entscheidet, ist, wie viel vom Ansaugweg es für sich selbst beansprucht und wie viel es zurückhält. Der P14 gibt mehr vom Ersten auf, um mehr vom Zweiten zu behalten, und wo die Kilometer sauber sind, ist der P08 die bessere Balance.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der PM236P14 wird mit Druckluft gewartet, der Strahl an die saubere Seite angesetzt und nach außen geblasen. Wenn eine Etappe mehr verdient hat, waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Spülmittel, spülen Sie ihn aus, bis das Wasser klar bleibt, und lassen Sie ihn dann vollständig an der Luft trocknen — niemals mit Hitze, niemals mit Flamme.
