Staub erreicht einen Motor nicht auf geradem Weg. Die Luft wird zunächst durch Kanäle und einen Kasten gezogen, und jede Kurve kostet die schwersten Partikel ihre Fahrt: Grobkorn wird gegen eine Wand geschleudert und fällt aus dem Luftstrom, noch bevor das Medium es zu sehen bekommt. Was die Filterfläche einer straßenbewegten GSX-8T erreicht, ist der leichte Anteil des Staubs von draußen – die Fraktion, die in der Schwebe bleibt und jeder Wendung folgt, die die Luft nimmt. Der Sprint Filter P14 ist für genau diese Fraktion gemacht: ein trockenes Spezial-Vlies mit einer Filterfeinheit von 14 Mikron, während der Standard-P08 bei 80 liegt.

Was das Filterelement tatsächlich erreicht
Filterung wird auf der Straße nicht weniger wichtig; sie spielt sich nur in einer kleineren Größenordnung ab, als die meisten Fahrer annehmen. Achtzig Mikron ist ein ernstzunehmender Wert – Sprint Filter hat gemessen, dass der P08 93,13 Prozent der 100-Mikron-Testpartikel zurückhält, gegenüber 76,42 Prozent bei vierlagiger geölter Baumwolle –, doch diese Zahlen beschreiben das grobe Ende, und mit dem groben Ende hat der Ansaugweg meist schon vorher aufgeräumt. Was übrig bleibt, ist die luftgetragene Feinfraktion: Mineralstaub von trockenen Banketträndern, Erntestaub im Spätsommer. Der P14 begegnet dem nicht mit einem dichteren Gewebe, sondern mit einem anderen Aufbau – einer Fasermatte, die Partikel über ihre gesamte Tiefe hält und in einem Seriengehäuse funktioniert, weil so viel mehr Medium hineingefaltet ist.
Der Durchfluss, auf den Sie verzichten
1.800 gegenüber 5.050 ist kein Rundungsfehler, und der 776-ccm-Twin der GSX-8T ist der größte Motor auf dieser Teilenummer. Wenn Ihre 8T anhaltend Vollgas, Trackdays oder einen geöffneten Auspuff samt passendem Kennfeld erlebt, ist der P08 mit 80 Mikron und 5.050 Litern das besser abgestimmte Element und die richtige Wahl. Der P14 gehört zur anderen 8T, die bei Teillast auf Landstraßen durch Sommerstaub und losen Split bewegt wird, wo die Obergrenze nie erreicht wird und die Feinfraktion bei jeder Fahrt auftaucht. Feinere Medien folgen derselben Linie: P037 mit 37 Mikron und 4.500 Litern, T12 mit 7 und 560. Jede Stufe feiner hält mehr zurück und lässt weniger durch – ein Kompromiss, keine Rangfolge.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft erledigt die Arbeit: die Leitung an die saubere Seite der SM245P14 halten und den Schmutz auf demselben Weg zurücktreiben, auf dem er hereinkam. Wo Luft nicht mehr ausreicht, in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen und spülen, bis es klar abläuft. Vollständig an bewegter Luft trocknen lassen, niemals mit Hitze oder Flamme, und trocken wieder einsetzen. Das Wartungsblatt liegt im Downloads-Tab.
Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
