Reiht man die Elemente auf, die Sprint Filter für diesen Luftfilterkasten baut, fehlt ein Motorrad. Das Standardgewebe und das Renngewebe nennen jeweils vier Suzukis; SM245P14 nennt drei. Die Maschine, die herausfällt, ist die V-Strom 800DE, und sie geht nicht leer aus – dasselbe Gehäuse erhält das T12-Geländemedium, gelistet für dieses Modell und kein anderes. Das feine Ende der Reihe wurde entlang der Maschinen aufgeteilt, statt dem Käufer überlassen zu werden, und für eine GSX-8S entscheidet genau diese Aufteilung, wie weit die Leiter reicht.

Wo die Leiter für dieses Modell endet
Unter 14 Mikron geht der Katalog für eine GSX-8S schlicht nicht. Das ist weder ein Versehen noch ein Mangel: Der T12 ist mit 560 l/m²/sek bewertet, konzipiert für eine Maschine, die bei niedrigem Tempo im eigenen Staub gefahren wird, und Suzukis Adventure-Modell auf diesem Gehäuse ist genau dort, wo er hingehört. Bei einem Naked-Straßenmotorrad ist die praktische Antwort auf eine Saison trockener, körniger Straßen daher nicht ein feineres Medium, sondern ein kürzeres Intervall – den Kasten öfter öffnen und den SM245P14 reinigen, bevor er Zeit hatte, sich zu füllen. Dieser Ansatz ist nur erträglich, weil das Element regeneriert statt ersetzt wird; bei einer Wegwerf-Patrone würde das bedeuten, jedes Mal eine neue zu kaufen.
Was aufgegeben wird, und was nicht
1.800 gegen 5.050 über dieselbe Flächeneinheit ist der ehrliche Preis, und ein starker Parallel-Twin ist grundsätzlich keine Maschine mit Durchflussüberschuss. Zwei Dinge mildern das: Das Element trägt deutlich mehr Fläche als der Einsatz, den es ersetzt, und an einem Serienmotorrad ist sein Anteil am gesamten Ansaugwiderstand bescheiden, weshalb an der Gemischaufbereitung nichts geändert werden muss. Was nicht geboten wird, ist Leistung. Ein Einsteckfilter macht eine Serien-GSX-8S nicht schneller, und wenn Sie hauptsächlich auf sauberem Asphalt und häufig im oberen Drehzahlbereich fahren, ist das gewebte P08 mit 80 Mikron die besser ausbalancierte Wahl.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft, auf die saubere Fläche gerichtet und nach außen getrieben, ist die gesamte Routine; die andere Richtung vergräbt den Schmutz nur tiefer in einer Matte, die ihn in der Tiefe speichert. Handwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel erledigt, was Luft übrig lässt, und die Spülung geht weiter, bis das Wasser nichts mehr verfärbt. Getrocknet wird ausschließlich an der frischen Luft, nie mit Wärme oder Flamme, und das Element kommt trocken zurück. Die Reinigungsanleitung finden Sie im Reiter „Downloads" auf dieser Seite.
Passform & Kompatibilität
