Sprint Filter veröffentlicht für jedes Medium, das es herstellt, zwei Zahlen, und das Interessante an ihnen ist, dass sie sich nicht spiegeln. Der Wechsel vom P08 zum P14 in dieser Airbox verschärft die Einstufung von 80 µm auf 14 — fast um den Faktor sechs. Der Durchflusswert fällt im Gegenzug nicht um den Faktor sechs; er geht von 5.050 l/m²/sek auf 1.800, etwas mehr als ein Drittel des ursprünglichen Werts. Zwei verschiedene Beträge, die sich in entgegengesetzte Richtungen bewegen. Das ist die gesamte Spezifikation des PM200P14, und deshalb entscheidet keine der beiden Zahlen den Kauf allein.

Das Zahlenpaar lesen statt nur eine der beiden
Nennt man nur den Rückhaltewert, wirkt jedes feinere Medium wie ein Upgrade. Nennt man nur den Durchflusswert, wirkt jedes gröbere so. Beide Lesarten sind aus demselben Grund falsch: Die Zahlen beschreiben ein und denselben Tausch von zwei Seiten. Ein Medium kann nicht mehr zurückhalten und gleichzeitig mehr durchlassen, und Sprint Filter behauptet das auch nicht — die Bandbreite existiert, damit der Tausch bewusst für die jeweiligen Bedingungen getroffen werden kann statt standardmäßig. Bei einem 248,8-cm³-Einzylinder, der durch trockene Sommer gefahren wird, ist es eine vertretbare Richtung, Durchfluss auszugeben, der nie voll ausgeschöpft wurde, um Rückhaltung zu gewinnen, die ständig gebraucht wird.
Der Teil der Behauptung, den wir nicht aufstellen
Keines dieser beiden Elemente macht eine Serien-Svartpilen spürbar schneller, und das feinere kann es schon rein rechnerisch nicht: Es lässt weniger Luft durch als das Medium, das es ersetzt. Der Nutzen ist ein niedriger Ansaugwiderstand, der niedrig bleibt, weil das Element wieder in seinen Ausgangszustand zurückgereinigt wird, statt sich dauerhaft zuzusetzen wie ein Papierelement. Alles Übrige ist Rechenarbeit dazu, durch welche Art von Luft Sie fahren.
Pflege und Reinigung
Blasen Sie den PM200P14 mit Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen durch; bei den meisten Wartungen ist damit nichts weiter nötig. Hat das Medium mehr aufgenommen, als Luft bewegen kann, nutzen Sie handwarmes Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel, bewegen Sie es sanft und spülen Sie, bis das Ablaufwasser klar bleibt. Das Trocknen erfolgt in zirkulierender Luft, egal wie lange das dauert — nie mit Heizkörper, Heißluftgebläse oder Flamme — und das Element wird erst wieder eingebaut, wenn es durch und durch trocken ist. Für die Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, 2020 bis 2026, in der Serien-Airbox. Elf Maschinen von Husqvarna und KTM teilen sich dieses Element; der Fitment-Tab nennt sie mit den Jahren, für die jede abgedeckt ist.
