Es gibt einen naheliegenden Grund, zu einem feineren Material zu greifen, nämlich der Untergrund, auf dem Sie fahren, und einen zweiten Grund, der mit dem Untergrund überhaupt nichts zu tun hat. Bei einer Maschine dieser Größe ist der zweite der größere. Ein Motor dieses Hubraums, so gefahren, wie eine RR üblicherweise gefahren wird, bewegt jede Minute ein enormes Luftvolumen, und was auch immer in dieser Luft schwebt, taucht proportional zu diesem Volumen am Panel auf. Bei identischer Luftqualität nimmt dieser Zweizylinder pro Stunde weit mehr davon auf als die kleinen Einzylinder, für die ein Material für staubige Bedingungen üblicherweise gekauft wird.

Exposition ist eine Rate, kein Straßenzustand
Wer mehr Luft durch ein Panel gleicher Fläche zieht, verlangt von ihm, mehr von allem zu verarbeiten, was die Luft enthält, und ein großer Zweizylinder, der durch die Gänge gefordert wird, tut genau das. Das Argument gilt auch auf sauberen Straßen, denn „sauber" ist ein relatives Wort: Reifen- und Bremsabrieb, feiner vom Verkehr aufgewirbelter Sand und die allgemeine Last einer Sommerluft sind alle in Mengen vorhanden, die mit dem gezogenen Volumen skalieren.
Was dafür aufgegeben werden muss
Die Rechnung wird nicht verheimlicht. Wo dem Standardgewebe 5.050 l/m²/sek zugeschrieben werden, wird diesem Vlies 1.800 zugeschrieben – rund ein Drittel –, und Sprint Filter veröffentlicht dafür keinen Rückhalte-Prozentwert, sodass der Gewinn allein durch die Mikron-Bewertung beschrieben wird. Es ist mit Sicherheit keine Leistungsmodifikation: Ein Element, das in einen Serien-Luftfilterkasten eingesetzt wird, macht ein Serienmotorrad nicht spürbar stärker, egal welches Material darin sitzt. Was der Tausch bringt, ist ein niedriger Ausgangswiderstand, der bei jeder Wäsche zurückkehrt, statt über eine Saison hinweg zu verebben.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der Service am PM190P14 beginnt und endet meist mit Druckluft, an der sauberen Seite angesetzt und nach außen geführt, damit die Belastung denselben Weg verlässt, auf dem sie ankam. Hat das Gewebe etwas Klebrigeres aufgenommen, lösen lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel es, wobei so lange gespült wird, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Getrocknet wird passiv: bewegte Luft, so lange es eben dauert, und keinerlei Wärmequelle, denn eine Heißluftpistole oder eine Flamme ruinieren das Gewebe weit schneller, als Staub es je könnte.
