Beide Werte auf einem Sprint-Filter-Datenblatt sind pro Quadratmeter angegeben: 5.050 Liter pro Sekunde beim Standard-P08, 1.800 bei diesem Staubmedium. Keiner der beiden sagt etwas über ein einzelnes Filterelement aus, solange man nicht weiß, wie viel Material darin steckt. Das lohnt es sich zu bedenken, wenn der P14-Wert neben dem anderen alarmierend wirkt, denn eine Airbox der Literklasse ist keine kleine, und Sprint Filter baut seine Elemente mit etwa doppelt so viel Gewebe wie ein typischer Performance-Filter.

Pro Quadratmeter, und warum das wichtig ist
Ein Wert pro Flächeneinheit beantwortet eine Frage zum Material, nicht zum Bauteil. Zwei aus demselben Medium zugeschnittene Elemente für unterschiedliche Gehäuse verhalten sich nicht gleich, weil das eine mehr Material enthält als das andere, und dasselbe gilt für ein Gehäuse, das mit unterschiedlichen Medien bestückt wird. Was die Zahlen festlegen, ist die Richtung des Tauschs: feineres Material, mehr Rückhaltung, weniger Durchfluss, jedes Mal und ohne Ausnahme. Die Fläche hebt diesen Zusammenhang nicht auf. Sie skaliert ihn, und ein großzügig dimensioniertes Gehäuse ist ein bequemerer Ort, um Durchfluss zu verausgaben, als ein beengtes.
Was das Staubmedium zurückhält
Mineralischer Feinstaub, von ungekehrten Straßen aufgewirbelt, der trockene Rückstand eines regenlosen Sommers, der Dunst, der auf einer Feldstraße hinter einem Lastwagen hängt. Das feine Ende dieses Spektrums ist es, wofür eine 14-µm-Matte geschrieben ist, und es ist auch der Teil, den ein gröberes Medium durchlässt. Was die Wahl nicht leisten kann, ist etwas hinzuzugewinnen: Ein Einsatzfilter macht ein Serienmotorrad nicht spürbar stärker, und ein feines gibt Kapazität ab, statt welche zu gewinnen. Der ehrliche Test ist die Luft, in der Sie fahren, nicht der Motor, hinter dem Sie sitzen — Fahrer, denen kein staubiger Monat in ihrem Jahr einfällt, sind mit dem Standard-P08 besser bedient.
Pflege und Reinigung
Eine Druckluftleitung an der sauberen Seite, nach außen gerichtet, ist die Routinewartung für den PM203P14 und reicht für den größten Teil der Materiallebensdauer aus. Wenn eine trockene Phase mehr eingelagert hat, als Luft bewegen kann, waschen Sie ihn in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Spülmittel und spülen Sie, bis das Wasser farblos abläuft. Lassen Sie ihn dann in bewegter Luft trocknen, fern von Heizkörpern, Heißluftgebläsen und offener Flamme, denn Hitze schädigt Polyester, und ein geschädigtes Element verliert seine Dichtwirkung, lange bevor es unansehnlich wird. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Katalogisiert für die Honda CB1000R der Modelljahre 2018 bis 2026, ein einziges Motorrad auf der Liste. Dasselbe Gehäuse wird auch vom Standard-P08 und vom Renn-Gewebe P08 F1-85 bedient, sodass die Wahl bei diesem Motorrad eine Materialfrage ist, keine Passform-Frage. Details im Reiter Fitment.
