Für das Papierelement im Luftfilterkasten der Speciale gibt es keinen veröffentlichten Mikronwert und keinen Durchflusswert, und gegen eine Zahl, die es nicht gibt, lässt sich kein ehrlicher Vergleich aufbauen. Der Vergleich, der sich lohnt, ist also der, den der Katalog tatsächlich hergibt: dieses Vlies gegen das gewebte Element, das für dasselbe Gehäuse angeboten wird.

Zwei Zahlen, beide gemessen
Jedes Medium in dieser Baureihe trägt zwei veröffentlichte Werte: eine Filterstufe in Mikron und eine Durchflussrate in Litern pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde. Das sind die gemessenen Fakten. Hier 14 und 1.800. Beim Standardelement 80 und 5.050. Bei der Extremstufe 7 und 560 – und diese listet der Katalog nur für ein einziges Modell dieser Familie, das keine Panigale ist. Alles jenseits dieser Werte ist eine Ermessensfrage: welches Set zu den Straßen passt, auf denen eine bestimmte Speciale tatsächlich gefahren wird. Rückhalte-Prozentwerte wurden ebenfalls veröffentlicht, aber sie wurden am gewebten Medium gegen eine angegebene Partikelgröße gemessen. Sie lassen sich nicht auf ein Vlies übertragen, und für dieses hier wird keiner angegeben.
Wo die Gewissheit endet
Was sich sagen lässt: Dieses Element ist feiner und lässt weniger durch, um die oben genannten Beträge. Was sich nicht sagen lässt, ist irgendein Vielfaches gegenüber dem originalen Ducati-Element, denn für dieses Element gibt es keine Spezifikation, mit der man rechnen könnte. Was sich ebenfalls sagen lässt, ist die nüchterne Wahrheit über Leistung – kein Einsteckfilter macht eine serienmäßige V4S Speciale schneller, und ein feiner gibt Ansaug-Spielraum ab, statt welchen hinzuzufügen. Der Grund, ihn einzubauen, ist die Spezifikation zwischen Straße und Ansaugtrakt, bei einer Maschine, die über Jahre behalten und gefahren wird, statt weiterverkauft zu werden.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen ist die gesamte Routine, sie treibt die eingeschlossene Ablagerung zurück entlang ihres Eintrittswegs. Fettiger Schmutz löst sich mit lauwarmem Wasser und mildem Reinigungsmittel, gefolgt von Spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Getrocknet wird an bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur, ohne Heißluftgerät und ohne Flamme, und der PM160P14 wird trocken und unbehandelt wieder eingebaut.
