Niemand veröffentlicht ein Serviceintervall für einen waschbaren Luftfilter, also arbeiten sich Besitzer selbst eines aus – zwei Kontrollen, eine Notiz, wie das Element aussah, und danach ein Rhythmus. Dieser Rhythmus ist auf eine bestimmte Materialmenge geeicht. Bauen Sie diese Teilenummer ein, der der Katalog hundert Prozent mehr Filterfläche zuschreibt als der Standardversion, beschreibt der aufgebaute Rhythmus nicht mehr dasselbe Objekt.

Den Rhythmus neu lernen
Die ehrliche Antwort ist: Man kann nicht einfach das alte Intervall verdoppeln und sich zurücklehnen, denn die Belastung ist nicht die einzige laufende Uhr. Standzeit zählt, feuchte Jahreszeiten zählen, und ein Vlies, das doppelt so lange zwischen den Services aushält, verbringt auch doppelt so lange im Gehäuse und sammelt, was auch immer dort hineingerät, während die Maschine steht. Was die verdoppelte Fläche zuverlässig verändert, ist der Punkt, an dem der Widerstand zu steigen beginnt; was sie nicht verändert, ist der Wert des Hinschauens. Zwei Kontrollen im alten Intervall zeigen, was das Element bei halber Last macht, und daraus wird der neue Rhythmus abgeleitet.
Warum sich ein Vierzehn-Mikrometer-Vlies schwer ablesen lässt
Weil es seinen Zustand verbirgt. Ein Gewebe zeigt seine Belastung gegen das Licht; ein gebundenes Vlies hält feines Material in seiner Tiefe und kann schon weit in seiner Lebensdauer sein, während es noch brauchbar aussieht. Das spricht für eine feste Routine statt für einen Eindruck, und das gilt hier umso mehr, da ein größeres Element länger braucht, um überhaupt ein sichtbares Zeichen zu geben. Nichts davon ist eine Leistungsfrage – ein Element in einem unangetasteten Luftfilterkasten lässt eine Standard-R-1200-RS genau so stark wie zuvor –, aber ein Filter, dessen Zustand man nicht sehen kann, ist einer, den man nach Kalender kontrolliert statt nach Gefühl.
Pflege und Reinigung
Von der sauberen Seite mit einer Druckluftleitung nach außen arbeiten und den Druck moderat halten; das Ziel ist, die Last aus den Fasern herauszuführen, nicht sie hindurchzudrücken. Eine Wäsche folgt, wenn Luft allein das Vlies nicht mehr in Richtung seines ursprünglichen Widerstands zurückbringt: lauwarmes Wasser, eine kleine Menge mildes Spülmittel, und weiterspülen, bis das ablaufende Wasser farblos bleibt. Getrocknet wird in zirkulierender Luft und nirgends in der Nähe von Wärme jeder Art, denn Hitze ist es, die einem Polyesterelement ein Ende setzt. Das K142P14 kommt trocken und ungeölt zurück. Passform & Kompatibilität
Für die BMW R 1200 RS, gebaut ab 2015 bis 2018, im Serien-Luftfilterkasten ohne jede Veränderung. Sechs Maschinen sind für dieses Element gelistet – die Straßenboxer beider Generationen, drei der 1200er- und drei der 1250er-Reihe –, und der Fitment-Tab nennt für jede die Baujahre.
