Aber es ist ein Staubmedium. Sein Vliesgewebe filtert bis 14 Mikron und lässt 1.800 l/m²/sek durch, gegenüber 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek beim Standard-P08, und ein Motorrad dieser Art wird tendenziell auf ausgewählten Straßen in einem Tempo gefahren, das den Motor in der oberen Hälfte seines Drehzahlbereichs hält. Genau das ist der Betriebspunkt, an dem Durchflussverzicht aufhört, kostenlos zu sein.

Wenn das Standardmedium die richtige Antwort ist
Wenn die Straßen sauberer Asphalt sind und schnell gefahren wird, kaufen Sie stattdessen den P08. Er filtert bis 80 Mikron und lässt 5.050 l/m²/sek durch, in derselben trockenen Bauweise, mit derselben Ölfreiheit, demselben Waschverfahren und derselben Passform im Standard-Luftfilterkasten. Er ist das Standardmedium, weil er das ausgewogene ist, und bei einem Liter-Vierzylinder, der so genutzt wird wie die meisten dieser Maschinen, ist Balance das, was zählt. Ein feineres Gewebe ist keine höhere Qualitätsstufe desselben Produkts; es ist eine andere Einstellung desselben Kompromisses, und der Kompromiss zahlt sich nur aus, wo die Bedingungen ihn rechtfertigen.
Wann sich dieses Element verdient macht
Dafür gibt es einen echten Test, und er betrifft die Luft, nicht das Motorrad. Schotter oder unbefestigte Straßen an einem der beiden Enden einer Fahrt. Lange trockene Sommer, landwirtschaftliche Arbeit, sichtbar über der Oberfläche stehender Staub. Eine Region, in der im Winter gestreut wird und der Rückstand im Frühjahr noch gekehrt wird. Oder ein Motorrad, das hauptsächlich im dichten Verkehr genutzt wird, wo Brems- und Reifenpartikel die Last sind und sehr fein ausfallen. Unter diesen Bedingungen wird das, was am Filter vorbeikommt, zur drängenderen Frage als das, was durch ihn kommt, und 14 Mikron ist die vernünftige Antwort.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die Reihenfolge zählt mehr als der Aufwand: Luft durch das Medium von der sauberen Seite nach außen, und das Element trocken, bevor es wieder eingesetzt wird. Wo die Bedingungen mehr verlangt haben, in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen und spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft, dann an der Luft trocknen – Hitze und Flamme schädigen das Medium und werden nie eingesetzt.
