Ein Sporttourer ist ausgesprochen gut darin, dem Fahrer nichts mitzuteilen. Der Tempomat hält die gewünschte Geschwindigkeit, die Ride-by-Wire-Drosselklappe klärt, wie weit sie dafür öffnen muss, und die geregelte Kraftstoffzufuhr trimmt sich selbst auf das ein, was der Ansaugtrakt tatsächlich durchlässt. Zu zweit mit Gepäck auf einer langen Steigung kann der Motor eine Stunde am Stück hart arbeiten, und nichts davon dringt als Symptom zu Ihnen durch. In dieser Umgebung altert ein Luftfilter bei der Tracer 9 und der Tracer 9 GT. Der Sprint Filter P08 SM272S lohnt sich hier nicht, weil man ihn spürt, sondern weil man ihn kontrollieren kann.
Wichtige Merkmale

Ein Widerstand ohne Symptom
Filter versagen nicht, sie setzen zu. Bei einer Maschine mit so viel elektronischer Regelung wird das Zusetzen abgefangen statt gemeldet. Die Kraftstoffzufuhr wird korrigiert, das angeforderte Drehmoment wird etwas weiter im Gasgriff geliefert, und der Tempomat hält einfach die eingestellte Geschwindigkeit. Es gibt keine Warnung für Ansaugwiderstand und nichts auf dem Display, das ihn ausliest. Das lässt eine einzige ehrliche Methode übrig: das Element herausnehmen und ansehen. Bei einer Papierpatrone hat diese Kontrolle keine Konsequenz, außer ein Ersatz liegt schon bereit, denn was Sie gerade herausgenommen haben, wird entweder schmutzig wieder eingebaut oder weggeworfen. Der SM272S wird gereinigt und wieder eingebaut, sodass die Kontrolle jedes Mal ein Ergebnis hat.
Was das Medium ist – und was nicht
P08 ist eine einzelne trockene Lage gewebtes Polyester mit 80 Mikrometern Filterfeinheit, die 5.050 Liter pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde durchlässt. Das ist die Spezifikation für Straße und Rennstrecke, und es ist ein Kompromiss, keine Rangfolge: Ein feineres Gewebe hält mehr zurück und lässt weniger durch. Führt eine Route regelmäßig durch Staub oder Schotter, gibt es dafür genau den P14 mit 14 Mikrometern und 1.800 Litern, der dafür Durchfluss aufgibt. Für befestigte Straßen, Autobahnkilometer und Touring bei wechselndem Wetter ist der P08 die passende Einstellung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Zuerst erledigt Luft die Arbeit, von der sauberen Seite nach außen geblasen, was die meisten Fälle abdeckt. Was übrig bleibt, geht mit lauwarmem Wasser und einem milden Reinigungsmittel ab, gespült, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Anschließend braucht es frische Luft und Zeit – ganz durchgetrocknet, nie mit Hitze und nie mit einer Flamme – und wird erst trocken wieder eingebaut. Ein Ölschritt existiert nicht.
