Drei unterschiedliche Motorräder haben das Kürzel MT-09 getragen, und der Luftfilterkasten hat sich darunter verändert, während der Name gleich blieb. Das macht den Modellnamen zu einer schlechten Grundlage für die Filterbestellung und das Baujahr zu einer sehr guten. Der Sprint Filter SM212S ist das P08-Element für die mittlere CP3-Generation, die von 2021 bis 2023 zugelassenen Modelle, die SP eingeschlossen. Es handelt sich um trockenes Gewebe-Polyester, geformt für das Gehäuse, das Yamaha diesen Maschinen verpasst hat, und es wird gereinigt statt neu gekauft.

- Wird mit einem Luftstrahl gepflegt statt neu gekauft, mit zwei Jahren Garantie ab Verkaufsdatum

Teilefinder, Forenbeiträge und Kleinanzeigen unterscheiden selten zwischen den MT-09-Generationen, und genau so landet das falsche Element auf der Werkbank. Der Fahrzeugschein klärt das in Sekunden. Eine Erstzulassung zwischen 2021 und 2023 ordnet Ihre MT-09 oder MT-09 SP der mittleren Generation zu, und für diese Generation ist der SM212S bestimmt. Die SP teilt sich den Luftfilterkasten mit dem Standardmodell, da sie sich in Fahrwerk, Bremsen und Ausstattung unterscheidet, nicht in der Ansaugung – ein Teil deckt also beide ab.
Abgelöst, aber noch lange nicht alt
Ein Motorrad dieses Alters wurde im Showroom bereits abgelöst, während der größte Teil seines Arbeitslebens noch vor ihm liegt. Genau hier hört die Wartung auf, zum Händlerplan zu gehören, und wird für das nächste Jahrzehnt Sache des Besitzers. Papierfilter halten diese Vereinbarung offen: Ein Intervall wird fällig, ein Element wird gekauft, das alte landet im Müll, und der Kreislauf wiederholt sich, solange das Motorrad Ihnen gehört. Dieses Element ist darauf ausgelegt, das Motorrad zu überdauern, sodass sich nur noch die Arbeit wiederholt. Mehr Leistung bringt es nicht, denn kein Einsteckfilter macht einen Serien-Dreizylinder schneller, und jeder Text, der das behauptet, beschreibt etwas anderes. Was es bietet, ist ein niedriger Ansaugwiderstand, der nach jeder Reinigung wieder auf denselben Ausgangswert zurückkehrt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Auf einen SM212S wird nie etwas aufgetragen, was die Routine kurz hält. Druckluft erledigt den Großteil der Arbeit, von der sauberen Seite nach außen geführt, damit der Schmutz denselben Weg zurücknimmt, den er hereinkam. Warmes Wasser mit etwas mildem Reinigungsmittel übernimmt den Rest, wenn Luft allein nicht reicht, klar gespült. Anschließend braucht das Element offene Luft, bis es durch und durch trocken ist; Heißluftgeräte und offene Flammen zerstören das Gewebe, und es wird trocken wieder eingebaut.
