Luftfilter werden aus einem ganz gewöhnlichen Grund gut oder schlecht gepflegt: wie viel Aufwand die Aufgabe erfordert. Ein Service, der einen Werkstatttermin braucht, wird verschoben; ein Service, der ein gekauftes Verbrauchsmaterial braucht, wird zweimal verschoben. Der Sprint Filter P08 PM186S sitzt bewusst am anderen Ende dieser Skala. Das Element kommt mit denselben Werkzeugen heraus, die den Luftfilterkasten öffnen, es wird mit Druckluft aus einer Leitung gereinigt, die jede Reifenwerkstatt hat, und es geht wieder hinein. Es gibt nichts zu kaufen, nichts aufzutragen und nichts abzuwarten – der praktische Grund, warum eine eigenständig gewartete Jupiter MX tendenziell eine tatsächlich saubere Ansaugung behält statt nur eine theoretisch saubere.

Die Wartung ohne Einkaufsliste
Ein geöltes Gewebefilter ist ein zweiteiliges Produkt: das Element und das Öl, dazu ein Reiniger für das alte Öl. Das Nachölen muss gleichmäßig und in der richtigen Menge erfolgen, und ein überöltes Filter hinterlässt einen Film nachgeschaltet genau auf den Flächen, auf die sich ein einspritzender Motor bei der Messung verlässt. Es gibt keine korrekte Menge von irgendetwas aufzutragen, also gibt es auch keine Möglichkeit, es falsch zu machen. Die einzige Angewohnheit, die sich lohnt, ist, das Element häufiger anzusehen, als das Serviceheft es verlangt – bei einem waschbaren Filter kostet diese Kontrolle nichts.
Was Sie tatsächlich warten
Ein Filter in einem Standard-Luftfilterkasten macht ein Serienmotorrad nicht schneller, und jede Beschreibung, die etwas anderes behauptet, verkauft etwas anderes. Was ein sauberes Element leistet, ist, den Druckabfall an der Ansaugung niedrig zu halten und vor allem konstant – sodass der Motor am Ende eines Serviceintervalls weitgehend so atmet wie am Anfang. Der P08 erledigt das mit einer einzelnen Lage gewebtem Polyester aus Fäden ab 22 Mikron, von Sprint Filter mit 93,13 Prozent Rückhaltung bei 100-Mikron-Testpartikeln gemessen, gegenüber 76,42 Prozent bei einem vierlagigen geölten Baumwollfilter.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der PM186S wird normalerweise mit einer Druckluftleitung gewartet, von der sauberen Seite nach außen geführt. Lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel sind der nächste Schritt, wenn das nicht ausreicht; spülen Sie, bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Danach folgt vollständiges Trocknen ausschließlich an der Luft – Hitze ist ausgeschlossen, ebenso jede Flamme – und das Element wird trocken eingesetzt. Am Ende gibt es nichts zu ölen, da im Polyester nie Öl war. Das Sprint-Filter-Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
