Sprint Filter baut vier verschiedene Medien für diesen einen Luftfilterkasten, und nicht alle vier werden allen drei Maschinen angeboten. Die Valico 300DS ist die Einzige des Trios, die für das T12 gelistet ist, die 7-µm-Matte für extreme Bedingungen – und die Einzige des Trios, die nicht für das 14-µm-Staubelement gelistet ist, das Brivido und Trofeo haben können. Jemand hat die drei Maschinen unterschiedlich eingeschätzt. Das SM257S, das Straßen- und Rennstreckenpanel, ist der Eintrag, den sich alle drei teilen.

Eine Medienzuordnung entlang der Maschinen
Nehmen Sie diese Aufteilung ernst, denn sie kommt einer Empfehlung dieses Katalogs am nächsten. Das Staubelement ist für die beiden Maschinen gelistet, die auf befestigten Straßen erwartet werden; die Extrem-Matte ist allein für die Valico gelistet. Niemand im Werk hat Ihre Strecke vermessen, aber jemand hat entschieden, welche Optionen für welches Modell den Katalogeintrag wert waren, und die Valico ist diejenige, von der man annahm, sie könnte den Asphalt verlassen. Dieses Angebot liegt zwischen diesen beiden Antworten: das Standardgewebe, die Option, mit der alle drei verkauft werden, und der sinnvolle Ausgangspunkt, sofern der Untergrund unter dem Motorrad nichts anderes nahelegt.
Der Kompromiss, aus dem die Zuordnung besteht
Feiner hält mehr zurück und lässt weniger durch. Das ist der gesamte Mechanismus, und er verläuft nur in eine Richtung: 80 µm bei 5.050 l/m²/sek für dieses Element, 14 µm bei 1.800 für die Staubmatte, 7 µm bei 560 für die Extrem-Variante. Keines der drei ist besser als die anderen; jedes wurde für andere Luft gebaut. Was keines von ihnen tut, ist Leistung hinzuzufügen. Ein Einsatzpanel macht eine Standard-Valico 300DS nicht spürbar stärker, egal welches Medium im Kasten sitzt, das SM257S eingeschlossen. Es hält den Ansaugwiderstand niedrig und, weil es gewaschen statt ersetzt wird, führt es ihn immer wieder dorthin zurück.
Pflege und Reinigung
Hier wird nichts verbraucht. Die übliche Wartung ist ein Luftstrahl, an die saubere Seite angesetzt und nach außen geführt, damit die Belastung denselben Weg verlässt, auf dem sie hereinkam. Wo es feucht war und hart getrocknet ist, lösen lauwarmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel es; spülen, bis nichts mehr abgeht. Dann das Panel in bewegter Luft bei Raumtemperatur liegen lassen, bis es wirklich trocken ist – jede Art von Hitze, Heizkörper oder offene Flamme eingeschlossen, zerstört es – und trocken und unbehandelt wieder einsetzen.
