Triumph verkaufte diese Generation der 1050er Speed Triple in drei Ausstattungsstufen, und die Unterschiede zwischen ihnen sind schnell aufgezählt: Fahrwerk, Bremsen, Instrumente und der Umfang der Fahrhilfen. Die Basis-S bekam die schlichtere Version aller vier. Was sie nicht bekam, war ein schlichterer Motor oder ein kleinerer Luftfilterkasten – der Ansaugtrakt ist über die gesamte Reihe hinweg Gemeingut, weshalb die S genau dasselbe Sprint-Filter-Element nimmt wie die R und die RS. Der PM193S ist eines der wenigen Dinge an diesem Motorrad, bei dem Einstiegsmodell und Flaggschiff dasselbe Teil zum selben Preis erhalten.
Wichtige Merkmale
- Trockenes Polyester-Medium, nie geölt, sodass kein Film die nachgeschalteten Sensoren oder Drosselklappen erreicht
- 80 µm Filterung gepaart mit einem spezifizierten Durchfluss von 5.050 l/m²/sek, die Spezifikation, die Sprint Filter für Straße und Rennstrecke vorsieht
- In Sprint Filters Vergleichstest hielt der P08 93,13 % der 100-Mikron-Partikel zurück, gegenüber 76,42 % bei vierlagiger geölter Baumwolle
- Seine Filterfläche ist etwa doppelt so groß wie bei einem herkömmlichen Sportelement – Durchfluss erkauft mit Fläche, nicht mit weiterem Gewebe
- Passt in den unveränderten Luftfilterkasten, in dem das Werkelement saß; nichts wird zugeschnitten, gepolstert oder umprogrammiert
- Zwei Jahre Garantie, dazu eine Lebensdauer, die Sprint Filter mit der des Motorrads gleichsetzt
Wo die Ausstattungsleiter endet
Ausstattungsstufen werden dort gezogen, wo ein Hersteller den Unterschied berechnen kann: Dämpfungseinstellung, ein Farbdisplay, ein weiterer Fahrmodus. Bei der Luft funktioniert das nicht. Der Motor ist derselbe 1050er-Dreizylinder, der durch dasselbe Gehäuse atmet, sodass es bei der Ansaugung nichts gab, das man für das Topmodell zurückhalten konnte. Jeder andere Weg zur R- oder RS-Ausstattung bedeutet, Fahrwerk oder Bremsen zu kaufen; der Luftfilterkasten ist bereits identisch, und das Element, das hineinkommt, wird nach eigenen Kriterien gewählt, nicht nach Ausstattungsstufe.
Die längste Bauzeit der drei
Die S wurde von 2016 bis 2020 gebaut – fünf Modelljahre, so viele wie R und RS zusammen. Motorräder mit einer solchen Spanne haben inzwischen tendenziell ihren zweiten oder dritten Besitzer, und der Ansaugtrakt ist der Teil an ihnen, den keine Inspektion je erreicht. Der P08 klärt das einmalig: trockenes Gewebe-Polyester, mit Druckluft regeneriert, ohne ein Verschleißteil zu bestellen und ohne etwas korrekt dosieren zu müssen.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft übernimmt die Routinearbeit an einem PM193S – an die saubere Seite richten, damit das, was das Gewebe aufgefangen hat, auf der Seite entweicht, über die es eindrang. Das dauert zehn Minuten und braucht keine Materialien. Nach einer nassen oder staubigen Phase in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen, klar spülen und in bewegter Luft trocknen lassen, bis es ganz durchgetrocknet ist. Fern von Heizungen, Heißluftgeräten und Flammen halten und trocken wieder einbauen. Hier wird nie geölt. Das Wartungsblatt liegt im Downloads-Tab.
