Packtaschen, ein Topcase, ein Sozius, ein voller Tank und ein langer Tag sommerlicher Hitze: Das ist der Lastzyklus, für den die Speichenräder und die Zusatzausstattung verkauft wurden, und der, der dem Ansaugtrakt am meisten abverlangt. Das ehrliche Argument für den Sprint Filter P08 PM253S ist nicht Leistung – ein Element im Serien-Luftfilterkasten verschafft einem Reise-Twin davon nicht mehr. Es ist, dass der Widerstand, den der Filter dem Motor in den Weg stellt, während des gesamten Intervalls nahe am Ausgangswert bleibt und mit einer Druckluftpistole zurückgesetzt werden kann, wann immer Sie wollen – statt bei einem im Handbuch abgedruckten Kilometerstand.

Widerstand, der bleibt, wo er anfing
Ein Papierelement beginnt das Intervall sauber und beendet es beladen, und das Intervall selbst ist ein Kompromiss: lang genug, um praktikabel zu sein, kurz genug, dass der schlechteste Tag noch akzeptabel bleibt. Voll beladenes Touring hält den Motor stundenlang am belasteten Ende seines Kennfelds, in bereits dünner Sommerluft – genau dann, wenn das Ende des Intervalls am wenigsten willkommen ist. Der P08 startet mit etwa doppelt so großer Filterfläche wie andere Sportfilter, sodass eine bestimmte Staubmenge einen kleineren Anteil davon bedeckt, und ein paar Minuten mit Druckluft bringen das Element zurück auf den Ausgangswert. Am Tag der Reinigung passiert nichts Dramatisches. Was sich ändert, ist die Anzahl der Tage, die Sie am falschen Ende des Intervalls verbringen.
Das Gewebe – und der Kompromiss dahinter
Das Medium ist eine einzelne Lage gewebtes Polyester aus Fäden ab 22 Mikrometern Durchmesser und arbeitet trocken – kein Nachölen, nichts wandert zum Luftmassensensor. Der Vergleich von Sprint Filter zeigt, dass der trockene P08 93,13 Prozent der 100-Mikrometer-Testpartikel zurückhält, gegenüber 76,42 Prozent bei vierlagiger geölter Baumwolle. Die feineren Medien gibt es für anspruchsvollere Luft, und jedes erkauft sich Rückhaltevermögen mit Durchfluss: P037 mit 37 Mikrometern, P14 mit 14, T12 mit 7 Mikrometern und 560 Litern pro Quadratmeter und Sekunde, wo der P08 5.050 durchlässt. Wählen Sie nach der Luft, in der Sie fahren, nicht nach der kleineren Zahl.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die normale Wartung besteht aus Druckluft, die so oft wie nötig von der sauberen Seite durch den PM253S nach außen geblasen wird. Bleibt danach noch etwas zurück, waschen Sie das Element in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel und spülen, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Trocknen Sie es vollständig an der frischen Luft – nie mit Hitze, nie mit einer Flamme – und bauen Sie es trocken wieder ein. Das Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
Passform & Kompatibilität
Gefertigt für die Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT, 2020 bis 2026, als direkter Ersatz im Serien-Luftfilterkasten. Dasselbe Element bedient vier Modelle: die V-Strom 1050 und V-Strom 1050XT ab 2020 sowie die V-Strom 1000 und 1000XT der Vorgängergeneration bis 2019.
