Bei einer vollverkleideten Supersport-Maschine ist nicht das Element selbst der lästige Teil der Arbeit – sondern der Weg dorthin. Der Luftfilterkasten einer GSX-R600 sitzt unter dem Tank, der angehoben und abgestützt werden muss, bevor überhaupt etwas herausgenommen werden kann. Deshalb ist der Filter das Teil, das meist ohnehin erst gewechselt wird, wenn der Tank sowieso schon ab ist. Ein Sprint Filter P08 PM122S verkürzt diesen Weg nicht, und er macht eine Serien-GSX-R600 nicht spürbar stärker – das tut nichts, was in einen Serien-Luftfilterkasten eingesetzt wird. Was sich ändert, ist, was der Weg dorthin wert ist: Das Element kommt heraus, wird durchgeblasen und geht direkt wieder hinein.
Hauptmerkmale

- 80 µm Filterung bei einer Durchflussleistung von 5.050 l/m²/sek, die Standardspezifikation für Straße und Rennstrecke
- Polyesterfaden ab ø 22 Mikron, wobei die Öffnung durch das Gewebe festgelegt wird, nicht durch gepresste Zellstofffaser
- Etwa doppelt so viel Filtergewebe wie das übliche Performance-Element, sodass eine Staubschicht einen kleineren Anteil davon bedeckt
- Ersetzt das Papierelement im Serien-Luftfilterkasten: nichts zugeschnitten, nichts umgeleitet, keine Anpassung der Motorsteuerung
- Wird gewaschen und wieder eingebaut statt entsorgt, mit zwei Jahren Garantie von Sprint Filter ab Kauf
Wenn der Zugang der teure Teil ist
Weil der Tank angehoben werden muss, ist das Öffnen dieses Luftfilterkastens eine geplante Arbeit und keine beiläufige, und eine geplante Arbeit lohnt sich nur, wenn sie am selben Tag abgeschlossen werden kann. Bei einem Papierelement hängt das davon ab, ob ein Ersatzteil auf Lager liegt; ist keines vorhanden, schauen Sie nach, erfahren nichts, worauf Sie reagieren können, und schließen alles wieder, um ein Teil nachzubestellen. Ein waschbares Element beseitigt diese Abhängigkeit. Der Luftfilterkasten ist offen, die Druckluftpistole liegt bereits auf der Werkbank, und das Element, das wieder hineinkommt, ist dasjenige, das Sie herausgenommen haben – sauber. Der nächste Kontrolltermin richtet sich dann nach dem, was Sie tatsächlich dort gesehen haben, nicht nach einem im Serviceheft eingetragenen Kilometerstand.
Trockenes Polyester, und was die Werte bedeuten
Der P08 besteht aus einer einzigen Lage gewebtem Polyester und arbeitet trocken: kein klebriger Film vor den Drosselklappen, und nichts, das auf einen Luftmassensensor wandern könnte. Im herstellereigenen Vergleich von Sprint Filter hält der trockene P08 93,13 Prozent der 100-Mikron-Testpartikel zurück, gegenüber 76,42 Prozent bei vierlagiger geölter Baumwolle. Wo die Luft belasteter ist, webt die Reihe feiner – P037 mit 37 µm und 4.500 l/m²/sek, P14 mit 14 µm und 1.800, T12 mit 7 µm und 560 – und jeder Schritt hin zu feinerer Filterung wird mit Durchfluss bezahlt. Das ist ein Tausch, der von der Luft bestimmt wird, die ein Motorrad atmet, keine Leiter mit einer besten Sprosse.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die routinemäßige Wartung ist Druckluft, gegen die saubere Fläche gehalten, damit der Schmutz denselben Weg verlässt, den er gekommen ist. Wenn Luft allein ihn nicht löst, wird der PM122S in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel gewaschen – spülen, bis das Wasser klar läuft. Anschließend trocknet er in bewegter Luft in seinem eigenen Tempo, nie mit einer Heißluftpistole, einem Heizkörper oder einer Flamme – Hitze ruiniert Polyester.
