Bauen Sie einem Motorrad, das schon eine Saison oder zwei hinter sich hat, einen neuen Luftfilter ein, und die nächste Fahrt fühlt sich besser an. Der Eindruck ist echt, aber er ist auch der falsche Beweis: Er stellt ein beladenes Element gegen ein sauberes, ein Wettstreit, den auch das Standard-Papierelement genauso überzeugend gewonnen hätte. Bei einem großen luft-ölgekühlten Boxer schlägt das besonders stark durch: Die ersten dreitausend Umdrehungen tragen den Großteil der Arbeit, und genau dort liest ein Fahrer den Zustand der Ansaugung als Ansprechverhalten ab. PM213S verdient sich seinen Platz für das, was nach dieser Fahrt geschieht, nicht während ihr.

Was die erste Fahrt beweist
Für sich genommen sehr wenig. Der Vergleich, der wirklich etwas bedeuten würde – dieses Gewebe gegen ein frisches Papierelement auf derselben Straße am selben Tag – braucht zwei Elemente und Geduld, die niemand hat. Veröffentlichte Werte stehen stellvertretend dafür: 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek für dieses Gewebe sowie 93,13 % Rückhaltung von 100-Mikron-Partikeln, während vierlagige geölte Baumwolle im selben Test 76,42 % erreichte. Diese Zahlen beschreiben einen Filter, kein Motorrad. Kein Einsatz in einem Standard-Luftfilterkasten macht eine Serien-R12 spürbar stärker.
Wo der Gewinn tatsächlich liegt
An zwei unspektakulären Stellen. Die erste: ein Widerstand, der länger nahe seinem Ausgangswert bleibt – die etwa doppelte Filterfläche verteilt eine Saison Staub dünner, sodass der Druck, den der Motor zum Atmen aufbringen muss, zwischen den Reinigungen langsamer ansteigt. Die zweite: Das Teil hört auf, ein Neukauf zu sein, denn ein Papierelement hat nur ein Ziel, während dieses hier in den Kasten zurückkehrt, aus dem es kam. Beides ist über zehn Jahre mehr wert als das Gefühl eines einzelnen Nachmittags.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft an der sauberen Seite des PM213S, durch die Fläche nach außen geblasen, die die Ablagerung aufgenommen hat, erledigt das meiste; von der schmutzigen Seite aus würde sie den Staub nur tiefer ins Gewebe drücken. Hinterlässt eine Trockenperiode mehr, als Luft löst, hilft lauwarmes Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel, gespült bis das Wasser klar abläuft. Anschließend in eigenem Tempo an bewegter Luft trocknen lassen, niemals mit einem Heißluftgebläse und niemals in der Nähe einer Flamme, denn Hitze ist es, was ein solches Element tatsächlich zerstört. Es kommt trocken und ungeölt zurück, das Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Reiter „Downloads".
Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Für die BMW R12 der Baujahre 2025 und 2026, als direkter Ersatz im unveränderten Serien-Luftfilterkasten. Sprint Filter listet diese Nummer für drei Maschinen: die R12, die R12 nineT und die R nineT von 2021 bis 2024. Diese Grenze bitte genau beachten: Die frühere R nineT von 2014 bis 2016 und jeder R nineT Scrambler, auch spätere Baujahre, tragen eine andere Teilenummer – Modellname und Baujahr allein reichen zur Bestellung nicht aus. Der Reiter „Fitment" nennt alle drei mit ihren Baujahrspannen.
