Zwei Zylinder, ein Luftfiltergehäuse. Jeder Ansaugtakt der 890 wird vom selben Element bedient, was bedeutet, dass das Teil nie für den Bedarf eines Zylinders ausgelegt wurde, sondern für die Summe beider, und diese Summe kommt in Stößen an, nicht als gleichmäßiger Zug. Es gibt nur zwei Wege, einen Filter mehr durchlassen zu lassen: das Gewebe öffnen oder mehr davon einsetzen. Der P08 wählt den zweiten Weg, weshalb die interessante Zahl hier nicht die Maschenweite ist, sondern die Fläche, die in ein Standardgehäuse gefaltet wurde.

Fläche statt weiteres Gewebe
Die Löcher zu öffnen ist der billige Weg zu einer Durchflusszahl, und er wird direkt mit dem Rückhaltevermögen bezahlt: Alles, was früher zwischen der alten und der neuen Öffnung hängen blieb, kommt jetzt durch, bei jedem Takt beider Zylinder, während der gesamten Lebensdauer des Elements. Mehr Medium einzusetzen kostet dagegen überhaupt nichts an Filterleistung. Es kostet Bauraum, und deshalb steht diese Lösung nur einem Hersteller offen, der bereit ist, sehr viel Gewebe in ein Gehäuse zu falten, das jemand anderes entworfen hat. Bei einem Twin, der seine Kammer zweimal pro Umdrehung leert, ist der Unterschied zwischen diesen beiden Ansätzen kein Streitpunkt.
Drei Maschinen auf einer Zeile
Die L ist die A2-Version, die R die schärfste der drei, und Sprint Filter fasst sie zusammen, weil das Luftfiltergehäuse sie nicht unterscheidet. Eine ehrliche Beschreibung des Elements tut das ebenso wenig. Keine Standard-890 gewinnt durch eines davon an Leistung, gleich welche der drei es ist, und die gedrosselte Variante wird von einer gesetzlichen Kategorie gehalten, die weit unter allem liegt, worüber ein Filter mitreden könnte. Der Gewinn ist ein zu Beginn niedrigerer Ansaugwiderstand und, weil das Medium gewaschen statt entsorgt wird, derselbe niedrige Wert erneut nach jeder Reinigung.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die Wartung des PM175S ist eine Werkbankarbeit mit Druckluft. Halten Sie die Luft an die saubere Seite und treiben Sie sie nach außen; der Staub verlässt das Element auf dem Weg, auf dem er kam. Eine Wäsche gehört später in das Leben des Elements – lauwarmes Wasser, ein mildes Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis nichts mehr abgeht. Polyester wird durch Hitze geschädigt, daher trocknet es ausschließlich an der frischen Luft, weit entfernt von jeder Flamme, und wird erst wieder eingebaut, wenn es ganz durchgetrocknet ist. Passgenauigkeit & Kompatibilität
Für die KTM 890 Duke, 890 Duke L und 890 Duke R, 2020 bis 2026, als Ersatz für die Standardplatte in einem unveränderten Luftfiltergehäuse. Dieser Code deckt fünf Modelle der Baureihe ab, von der 790 bis zu den neuesten 990ern, sodass das Modelljahr ebenso über die Bestellung entscheidet wie der Modellname.
