Die meisten Luftfilterkontrollen finden nach einer Reise statt, wenn das Motorrad schmutzig und der Befund offensichtlich ist. Das ist der falsche Zeitpunkt. Die nützliche Kontrolle ist die eine Woche vor der Abfahrt, solange noch Zeit bleibt, ein Element zu waschen und trocknen zu lassen, und solange eine verschlissene Deckeldichtung noch bestellt werden kann. Bei einer 1290 Super Adventure, die weit wegfährt, gehört das PM155S auf die Liste vor der Abfahrt, nicht auf die Liste danach.

Eine Woche vorher, nicht am Vorabend
Waschen verpflichtet zu einer Trockenzeit, die sich mit Wärme nicht verkürzen lässt, also muss die Kontrolle dafür Raum lassen. Eine Woche ist bequem: das Element durchblasen, gegen Licht halten, und wenn es stark beladen wirkt, waschen und richtig trocknen lassen, während Sie sich um alles andere kümmern. Dasselbe am Vorabend der Abfahrt zu tun, ist der Weg, auf dem Elemente feucht wieder eingebaut werden – der eine vermeidbare Weg, ein gutes Element zu verderben.
Wofür die Kontrolle wirklich da ist
Ein Ansaugwiderstand, der über einen Winter Pendelverkehr angestiegen ist, meldet sich nicht von selbst. Die Motorsteuerung gleicht das still aus, der Verbrauch verschiebt sich um einen Betrag, den niemand bemerkt, und der erste echte Beweis kommt auf einem langen Anstieg mit Gepäck bei Hitze. Das Element vorher anzusehen, nimmt diese Variable ganz aus dem Spiel, und bei dieser Teilenummer ist die Abhilfe immer dieselbe: Luft, oder Luft und Wasser. Es lohnt sich zu wiederholen: Ein sauberer Filter ist nicht stärker als ein sauberer Filter im letzten Jahr – der Punkt ist, dass er so gut ist wie damals, statt still schlechter zu werden.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die alltägliche Methode ist Druckluft, über die saubere Fläche geführt, sodass Schmutz nach außen austritt. Die gelegentliche Methode ergänzt warmes Wasser und ein mildes Reinigungsmittel, vollständiges Spülen und geduldiges Lufttrocknen ohne jede Wärme.
