Eine Sportmaschine mit kleinem Hubraum wird anders gefahren als eine große, und dieser Unterschied trifft direkt den Luftfilter. Ein Liter-Bike nutzt bei einer Straßenfahrt nur einen Bruchteil dessen, was es hat; die 321RR wird ausgereizt – weit geöffnete Drosselklappe, hohe Drehzahlen, lange Abschnitte nahe der Höchstdrehzahl, denn genau dort spricht eine Maschine dieser Größe ihre Sprache. Die Ansaugung arbeitet deshalb für einen viel größeren Anteil der Fahrzeit hart als bei einem größeren Motor, und jeder Widerstand im Luftfilterkasten wird während dieses Anteils bezahlt, nicht nur an einem seltenen Höhepunkt.
Wichtige Merkmale

Wo der Widerstand tatsächlich spürbar wird
Jedes Filterelement setzt der durchströmenden Luft einen Widerstand entgegen, und jedes Element setzt mehr Widerstand entgegen, je voller es wird. Bei einem Motor, dem für den Großteil der Fahrt das meiste abverlangt wird, ist dieser steigende Wert keine Randnotiz – er liegt in dem Drehzahlbereich, den der Fahrer ständig nutzt. Ein trockenes Gewebeelement wird regeneriert statt ersetzt, was bedeutet, dass der Widerstand jederzeit auf seinen Ausgangspunkt zurückgeführt werden kann, statt bis zum nächsten Service still anzusteigen. Das, und keine Leistungsangabe, ist das Argument. Ein Element in einem ansonsten unveränderten Luftfilterkasten macht eine Standardmaschine nicht spürbar schneller, und niemand sollte eines in dieser Erwartung kaufen.
Die mittlere von drei Stufen
Kove listet für diesen Luftfilterkasten drei Medien, und das P08 ist genau für die Mischung konzipiert, die eine straßenzugelassene 321RR erlebt: öffentliche Straßen mit Trackdays dazwischen. Die anderen beiden liegen zu beiden Seiten davon. Feineres Gewebe bedeutet mehr Rückhaltung und weniger Durchfluss; gröberes bedeutet das Gegenteil. Es ist ein Tausch mit zwei Richtungen, keine Leiter mit einer obersten Sprosse, und das 80-Mikron-Gewebe hier ist die Einstellung, die auf keiner der beiden Seiten am wenigsten aufgibt.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der Service ist eine Werkbank-Arbeit ohne Verbrauchsmaterial. Druckluft, an der sauberen Seite angesetzt und nach außen geführt, entfernt die Belastung wieder vom Gewebe; hat das Element einen nassen, schmutzigen Winter im Einsatz erlebt, erledigen lauwarmes Wasser mit einem milden Spülmittel und ein sorgfältiges Spülen den Rest. Das PM242S wird dann an offener Luft getrocknet – nie mit einer Heißluftpistole, nie in der Nähe einer Flamme – und trocken wieder eingesetzt, ohne jegliches Öl. Passform & Kompatibilität
Passt für die zwischen 2021 und 2026 gebaute Kove 321RR im Serien-Luftfilterkasten. Dasselbe Element bedient auch die NK321R derselben Jahre, sodass sich zwei Maschinen diese Teilenummer teilen; der Fitment-Tab listet beide.
