Die EX650 Ninja verdient sich die meisten ihrer Kilometer in kurzen Etappen. Sie ist das Motorrad, mit dem Leute pendeln, und ein Arbeitsweg bedeutet Kaltstart, zwanzig Minuten Verkehr und ein nasser Parkplatz am Ziel, dreihundertmal im Jahr wiederholt. Ansaugluft ist bei dieser Diät selten trocken und nie besonders sauber. Ein Zelluloseelement nimmt Feuchtigkeit aus feuchter Luft auf und gibt sie langsam wieder ab, und jeder dieser Zyklen macht es ein bisschen weniger zu dem Teil, das eingebaut wurde. Der Sprint Filter P08 PM163S ist stattdessen gewebtes Polyester: Es nimmt keine Feuchtigkeit auf, es lässt sich waschen, wenn der Winter fertig mit ihm ist, und die Drosselung, gegen die der Motor im März ansaugt, ist dieselbe wie im Oktober.
Wichtigste Merkmale
- Reinigung ist Druckluft, kein Neukauf – das Element ist waschbar und kommt direkt wieder hinein
- Nichts darin ist geölt: trockenes Polyester hinterlässt keinen Film, der auf einen Sensor oder eine Drosselklappe gezogen werden könnte
- Polyesterfaden ab Ø 22 Mikron, zu einer kalibrierten Porenweite gewebt – ein Gewebe, keine aus Zellstoff gepresste Lage
- Filterfläche: rund doppelt so groß wie bei anderen Sportfiltern
- Direkt in die Serien-Airbox: keine Modifikation, kein Remapping, keine Änderung an der Zulassung
- Die Garantiedauer beträgt zwei Jahre ab Kaufdatum
Kurzstrecken sind härtere Arbeit als lange
Ein Motorrad, das nie ganz auf Betriebstemperatur kommt, verbringt sein Leben im transienten Teil des Kennfelds – kleine Drosselklappenöffnungen, wechselnde Lasten, ständige Anpassung. Genau dort wird Ansaugdrosselung gespürt statt gemessen. Niemand bemerkt zwei Prozent, die im vierten Gang bei Vollgas fehlen, auf dem Arbeitsweg; jeder bemerkt ein Motorrad, das im Verkehr eine kleine Drosselklappenöffnung eine Spur zu spät beantwortet. Ein Filter, der mit niedriger Drosselung beginnt und bei jedem Service wieder dorthin zurückgesetzt wird, schützt genau den Teil der Leistung, den dieses Motorrad tatsächlich nutzt.
Zehn Modelljahre, eine Teilenummer
Diese Generation ist seit 2017 im Programm, was bedeutet, dass die EX650 Ninja inzwischen sowohl ein häufiges erstes großes Motorrad als auch ein häufiger Gebrauchtkauf ist. Beide Besitzergruppen profitieren von derselben Sache: einem Wartungsteil, das nur einmal gekauft wird. Sprint Filter konstruiert den P08 für die gesamte Lebensdauer des Motorrads, sodass die Airbox aufhört, Rechnungen zu erzeugen, und stattdessen einen Zehn-Minuten-Job mit dem Luftschlauch erzeugt. Das Element trägt zwei Jahre Garantie ab Kaufdatum.
Pflege und Reinigung
Die Wartung ist trockene Arbeit. Druckluft von der sauberen Seite, nach außen gerichtet, ist die ganze Routine. Ist ein Winter vorüber, waschen Sie das Element in lauwarmem Wasser mit mildem Reinigungsmittel und spülen bis das Wasser klar läuft. Lassen Sie es an offener Luft vollständig trocknen – nie mit Wärme, nie mit Flamme – und setzen Sie es trocken wieder ein. Zu keinem Zeitpunkt wird geölt.
