Honda verkauft dieses Motorrad sowohl mit Doppelkupplungsautomatik als auch mit manuellem Schaltgetriebe, und dieses Detail sagt mehr über die Ansaugung aus, als es zunächst scheint. Wählt der Fahrer den Gang, ist der Betriebspunkt des Motors teilweise Stimmungssache, und zwei Besitzer desselben Motorrads können ihn an ganz unterschiedlichen Stellen bewegen. Wählt eine Schaltkennlinie den Gang, ist der Betriebspunkt eine Entscheidung, die das Werk bereits getroffen hat, identisch wiederholt, sooft sich die Bedingungen wiederholen. Das gibt der NC750X den wohl berechenbarsten Luftbedarf von allen hier vorgestellten Motorrädern – und ein berechenbarer Bedarf ist genau der Fall, in dem ein gleichbleibender Widerstand einen driftenden schlägt.

Berechenbarer Bedarf, berechenbarer Widerstand
Ein Papierelement steigt vom Einbautag an im Widerstand, und es steigt unsichtbar, weil die geregelte Einspritzung die Veränderung absorbiert, lange bevor ein Fahrer sie am Gasgriff spüren könnte. Bei einem Motorrad, dessen Betriebspunkt wandert, vermischt sich diese Drift mit allem anderen und ist praktisch nicht ablesbar. Bei einem, dessen Betriebspunkt durch eine Kennlinie festgelegt wird, ist die Drift das Einzige, was sich ändert – was es lohnenswert macht, sie als Variable zu entfernen, statt sie hinzunehmen. Ein waschbares Element tut genau das, indem es in seinen Ausgangszustand zurückkehrt, statt sich zwischen den Austauschintervallen schrittweise nach oben zu schrauben.

Die Aussage, die sich nicht lohnt, ist Leistung. Ein Einsteckelement macht eine serienmäßige NC750X nicht spürbar stärker, und der langhubige Twin unter dem Tankstauraum litt nie unter Luftmangel. Die Aussage, die trägt, ist unspektakulärer und dauerhafter: ein niedrigerer Ansaugwiderstand, der über ein ganzes Wartungsintervall hinweg nahe an seinem Ausgangspunkt bleibt, auf einem Teil, das gewartet statt neu gekauft wird – was zu einem Motorrad passt, das von vornherein genau aus solchen Erwägungen gewählt wurde.
Pflege und Reinigung
Druckluft, über die saubere Seite geführt, sodass der Schmutz denselben Weg zurücklegt, auf dem er hereinkam, ist meistens die gesamte Routine. Nach einem Winter mit Salz und Gischt waschen Sie das PM215S in lauwarmem Wasser mit etwas mildem Reinigungsmittel und spülen Sie, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Lassen Sie es an offener, bewegter Luft trocknen statt an einer Wärmequelle, da sowohl Hitze als auch Flamme Polyester zerstören, und setzen Sie es trocken und unbehandelt wieder ein.
