Die NC700S und NC700X sind inzwischen alt genug, dass die meisten von ihnen beim zweiten oder dritten Besitzer sind, und die kaufenswerten Exemplare sind die mit einer Mappe. Nicht zwingend eine lückenlose Händlerhistorie – diese Motorräder wurden als vernünftiges Fortbewegungsmittel gekauft, und viele wurden von den Fahrern selbst gewartet –, sondern zumindest ein Nachweis: was gemacht wurde, wann, bei welchem Kilometerstand. Ein Luftfilter ist eine kleine Zeile in diesem Nachweis, und er ist eine der wenigen, die der Besitzer ehrlich selbst eintragen kann statt anhand einer Rechnung. Der Sprint Filter P08 PM181S ist ein trockenes Polyesterelement, das gereinigt und wieder eingebaut wird – was in die Mappe kommt, ist also ein Datum und ein Service, keine Quittung für ein Teil, das erneut gekauft werden muss.
Wichtige Merkmale

- Direkter Ersatz in der Serien-Airbox, ohne Modifikation und ohne neues Mapping
- Druckluft ist die normale Wartung, und was herauskommt, kommt auch wieder hinein
- Zwei Jahre Garantie ab Kaufdatum
Ein gebrauchter 670er-Twin und das, was niemand beweisen kann
Das meiste, was eine Besichtigung über eine gebrauchte NC700 verrät, ist sichtbar: Kette, Bremsscheiben, Gabeldichtungen, der Zustand der Schalter. Der Ansaugtrakt ist es nicht. Ein Papierelement, das seit vier Jahren verbaut ist, sieht weitgehend so aus wie eines, das seit einem Jahr verbaut ist, und der Unterschied zwischen beiden ist real, aber unsichtbar – er meldet sich nie mit einem Fehlercode oder einem Geräusch. Der Einbau eines waschbaren Elements beendet diese besondere Unsicherheit endgültig. Es wird bei jedem Service geprüft, weil das Prüfen der Service ist, und sein Zustand ist etwas, das man gesehen hat, nicht etwas, das man annimmt.
Was der zweite Besitzer erbt
Sprint Filter legt den P08 auf die Lebensdauer des Motorrads aus, was bei einem Modell dieser Art bedeutet, dass er den Käufer überdauert. Das ist eine Beschreibung des Zeitrahmens, kein Werbeslogan: Eine 2012 neu gekaufte NC700 hat bereits ein Jahrzehnt an Besitzern hinter sich, und ein zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt eingebauter Filter ist immer noch der Filter darin. Der nächste Besitzer erbt ein Teil, das gereinigt statt beschafft werden muss – und bei einem Modell, das längst nicht mehr im Showroom steht, kostet Letzteres einen Nachmittag.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der Service, der in die Mappe kommt, ist kurz: Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen geblasen, das Element trocken wieder eingebaut. Sobald ein Winter oder ein staubiger Sommer es verdient hat, in lauwarmem Wasser mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel waschen und spülen, bis das Wasser klar abläuft, dann an der freien Luft liegen lassen, bis es vollständig trocken ist – Hitze und Flammen kommen dabei nie zum Einsatz, ebenso wenig wie Öl.
