Die RS trägt Stollenreifen und setzt ihren Fahrer aufrechter hin als der Roadster, auf dem sie basiert, und Besitzer nehmen diese Einladung ernst. Sie ist kein Geländemotorrad, sieht aber Feldwege und unbefestigte Bergstraßen weit häufiger als der Rest der Familie. Staub ist der Preis dafür, und Staub führt seinen eigenen Kalender: Zwei Wochen trockener Schotter können einen Luftfilter stärker zusetzen als ein Jahr nasser Asphalt. Das ist das Argument für den Sprint Filter P08 SM289S bei dieser Version — nicht mehr Leistung, die ein Einsatzelement ehrlicherweise nicht versprechen kann, sondern ein Element, das am Ende einer staubigen Woche durchgeblasen und direkt wieder eingesetzt werden kann.

- Etwa doppelt so große Filterfläche wie andere Performance-Elemente bieten
- Passt in den unveränderten Serien-Airbox: nichts modifiziert, nichts umprogrammiert, Homologation wie von Honda verlassen
- Ausgelegt, um für das gesamte Leben des Motorrads dessen Filter zu bleiben
Warum Öl bei Staub die falsche Antwort ist
Geöltes Baumwollgewebe funktioniert, indem es Schmutz haften lässt — wirksam bis zu dem Punkt, an dem die klebrige Oberfläche mehr trägt, als sie tragen kann. Ab dann ist die eingeschlossene Schicht der Filter, der Durchsatz bricht ein, und das in den Ansaugtrakt getragene Öl muss irgendwo landen — meist auf den Sensoren, auf die sich das Einspritzsystem zur Kraftstoffdosierung verlässt. Der P08 fängt stattdessen per Geometrie: Fäden ab ø 22 Mikron, gewebt zu einer kalibrierten Öffnungsweite, ausgelegt auf 80 Mikron und 5.050 l/m²/sek. Der Vergleich von Sprint Filter setzt ihn bei 93,13 % Rückhaltung von 100-Mikron-Partikeln an, gegenüber 76,42 % bei vierlagigem geöltem Baumwollgewebe. Dem Medium wird nichts zugesetzt, also kann es auch nichts abgeben.
Wenn der Staub dauerhaft statt gelegentlich ist
Hier ist eine ehrliche Grenze zu ziehen. Wenn die RS meist auf befestigten Straßen unterwegs ist und sie nur gelegentlich verlässt, ist der P08 das richtige Medium: Spezifikation für Straße und Strecke, hoher Durchsatz. Arbeitet sie Woche für Woche unter wirklich staubigen Bedingungen, stellt Sprint Filter dafür feinere Medien her — den P14 mit 14 Mikron, den T12 mit 7 Mikron für extremen Untergrund. Sie halten weit mehr zurück und lassen entsprechend weniger durch, 1.800 und 560 l/m²/sek gegenüber 5.050. Ein Kompromiss, keine Rangfolge.
Pflege und Reinigung
Nach einer staubigen Fahrt genügt in der Regel Druckluft von der sauberen Seite nach außen für das SM289S. Waschen Sie es, sobald aus dem Staub Schmutz geworden ist: lauwarmes Wasser, mildes Reinigungsmittel, gespült, bis das Wasser klar bleibt, dann an der Luft getrocknet und nirgends in der Nähe von Hitze oder offener Flamme. Es kommt erst zurück, wenn es ganz durchgetrocknet ist, und zwar genau so, wie es ist: Auf dieses Medium wird nie Öl aufgetragen. Das Wartungsblatt finden Sie im Downloads-Tab.
