Ein Luftfilterkasten bedient hier vier Motorräder. Die Ansaugseite von Hondas Neo-Sports-Cafe-Einzylindern wird von der CB125R am unteren Ende der Baureihe bis zur CB300R am oberen Ende geteilt, was bedeutet, dass das Element auf den größten der vier Motoren ausgelegt wurde, nicht auf den kleinsten. Bei einer CB125R führt das zu einer ehrlichen und wenig glamourösen Schlussfolgerung: Der Luftfilter war nie das, was diesem Motor zwischen sich und seiner Leistung stand, und kein Austauschelement wird daran etwas ändern. Was der Sprint Filter P08 verändert, ist enger gefasst und dafür deutlich nützlicher. Die Drosselung bleibt nahe an ihrem Ausgangswert, statt zwischen den Wartungsterminen still zu steigen, und das Teil hört auf, etwas zu sein, das man immer wieder nachbestellen muss.

Was ein Filter bei einem 125er kann und nicht kann
Ein frisches Papierelement und ein frischer P08 fühlen sich bei der ersten Ausfahrt weitgehend gleich an, und wer etwas anderes behauptet, will Ihnen etwas verkaufen. Der Unterschied zeigt sich später. Papier setzt sich zu, indem es sich fortschreitend und unsichtbar verschließt, und der Druckabfall über einen Filter steigt mit dem Luftdurchfluss, statt bei einem festen Wert zu bleiben. Was sich still an Drosselung angesammelt hat, wird daher am deutlichsten genau dort spürbar, wo ein kleiner Einzylinder nichts an Reserve hat: am oberen Ende eines Vollgaszugs im vierten Gang. Ein gewebtes Polyestermedium filtert im sauberen Zustand bei 80 Mikron und lässt 5.050 l/m²/sek durch, und weil es gewaschen statt weggeworfen wird, lässt es sich in diesen Zustand zurückversetzen, statt sich stetig davon zu entfernen.
Ein Element, ausgelegt auf den größten Motor der Familie
Ein Teil über vier Hubräume hinweg zu teilen hat einen praktischen Vorteil: Es bleibt in Produktion. Ein Bauteil, das nur eine Variante in einem Markt bedient, verschwindet meist genau dann aus den Regalen, wenn diese Variante verschwindet, während SM219S gegen vier Maschinen und neun Modelljahre katalogisiert ist, sodass die Bestellung so lange unkompliziert bleibt, wie eines dieser Modelle noch unterwegs ist.
Pflege und Reinigung
Der Kompressor erledigt die normale Arbeit: auf der sauberen Seite ansetzen, nach außen blasen, einbauen. Sobald eine harte Saison es verdient hat, bekommt das Element stattdessen eine Wäsche – lauwarmes Wasser, etwas mildes Reinigungsmittel, spülen, bis das Wasser klar bleibt. Danach trocknet es ausschließlich an der Luft, da Hitze und Flamme das Medium zerstören würden. Der SM219S wird trocken wieder eingebaut, und der P08 hat keinen Ölschritt, den man vergessen könnte. Passform & Kompatibilität
