Warum hier 1,2 mm
Ein Millimeter Wand reicht bei siebzig Millimetern für die Steifigkeit völlig aus. Wofür er nicht reicht, ist Geräusch: Ein dünnwandiges Rohr großen Durchmessers strahlt Schall über die eigene Wand ab, und jenseits von sechzig Millimetern wird das als metallisches Klingen über dem Auspuffton hörbar.
Zwei Zehntel mehr Wand heben die Eigenfrequenz des Blechs und dämpfen es. Eine kleine Änderung mit unverhältnismäßiger Wirkung.
Was daraus gebaut wird
Dämpfergehäuse, Vorschalldämpfer-Boxen, Expansionsabschnitte und die großvolumigen Kammern, mit denen eine Eigenbauanlage Geräusch ohne Verengung kontrolliert. Siebzig Millimeter ist selten selbst ein Gasweg — es ist die Hülle um einen.
Ein Ende einrollen
Wer ein Dämpfergehäuse baut, muss die Enden schließen. Das heißt gedrückte Kappe, eingerollter Rand oder gedrehter Endring — und alle drei sind bei 1,2 mm einfacher als bei 1,0: Dickeres Material verträgt Umformen, ohne einzureißen.
Das Gewicht steigt schnell
Ein 500-mm-Stück in 70 × 1,2 wiegt fast ein Kilogramm. Durchmesser und Wand zählen beide, und an diesem Ende des Programms wird das Material zu einem echten Teil des Endgewichts statt zu einem Rundungsfehler.
Bögen
Spark biegt diesen Durchmesser mit 30°, 45° und 90°. 70 mm zu Hause zu biegen ist ohne richtiges Werkzeug nicht realistisch; die Wand fällt innen am Radius zusammen, lange bevor das Rohr den Winkel erreicht.
Lochrohr, separat
Ein aus diesem Rohr gebautes Dämpfergehäuse braucht ein gelochtes Innenrohr und Dämmmaterial, um ein Schalldämpfer statt eines Resonators zu sein. Spark verkauft beides nicht als Katalogartikel — planen Sie diesen Teil des Aufbaus um das, was Ihre Werkstatt beschaffen kann. Die Außenhülle ist die leichtere Hälfte.
