Was homologiert an einem Einsatz heißt
Nicht, dass der Einsatz eine eigene Bescheinigung trägt — nichts so Kleines tut das. Es heißt, dass dies die Konfiguration ist, in der der Schalldämpfer geprüft und zugelassen wurde. Nimmt man ihn heraus, entspricht der Auspuff nicht mehr der Beschreibung in den Papieren.
An einer Maschine, die durch eine Prüfung muss, ist das der ganze Grund, diesen Artikel statt eines offenen zu bestellen. Eingebaut lassen, Bescheinigung zu den Fahrzeugpapieren, und der Auspuff ist schlicht Teil des Motorrads.
Der längste Einsatz, den Spark baut
Hundertsiebenundsechzig Millimeter. Länge ist der Weg, auf dem ein gelochter Einsatz zugleich leise und einigermaßen frei wird: Sechsundzwanzig Bohrungen über diese Strecke verteilt bieten eine große Gesamtfläche und brechen die Gassäule trotzdem gründlich auf.
Ein kürzerer Stopfen mit gleicher Bohrungszahl wäre entweder lauter oder deutlich restriktiver. Auf engem Raum lässt sich beides nicht haben.

Sparks Preisliste nennt die Ducati 999 zu diesem Artikel, und die Maße bestätigen es: Ein Austritt von 80 × 36 mm ist ein großer rechteckiger Querschnitt der Art, die Spark für jene Ducati-Superbike-Generation gebaut hat.
Wenn Sie ihn zu einem vorhandenen Gehäuse suchen, messen Sie den Austritt in beiden Achsen. Die rechteckige Familie hat drei Einsätze, und sie sind nicht austauschbar.
Fast doppelt so viel wie die meisten Spark-Einsätze, und der Grund steht in den Absätzen davor: mehr Material, mehr Bearbeitung, eine geprüfte Konfiguration dahinter.
