Die Zwei-Bogen-Anlage
Ein rechter Winkel ab Sammler und ein Fünfundvierziger in die Dämpferposition deckt einen großen Teil aller Einzelanfertigungen ab. Der Neunziger dreht dort, wo der Platz am knappsten und die Geometrie am wenigsten verhandelbar ist; alles danach ist Ausrichten.
Eine Gerade dazwischen macht aus zwei festen Winkeln eine verstellbare Anordnung, und ihre Länge wird meist zuletzt entschieden.
Wo der Verlust wirklich entsteht
Nicht in der Ecke selbst, sondern kurz danach. Gas, das einen scharfen Bogen verlässt, ist von der Innenwand abgelöst und braucht mehrere Rohrdurchmesser, um wieder anzuliegen. Alles, was in diesem Bereich sitzt, arbeitet in gestörter Strömung.
Ein kurzes gerades Stück nach einem Neunziger kostet nichts und holt das meiste davon zurück.
Schwenk und Freigang
Ein Serien-Neunziger in diesem Durchmesser belegt mit den geraden Enden ein Quadrat von rund hundert Millimetern Kantenlänge. So viel Raum braucht er — und es lohnt, das vor der Bestellung zu zeichnen: Die häufigste Überraschung beim ersten Aufbau ist ein Bogen, der zur Rohrstrecke passt und nicht zum Motorrad.
Ein halber Neunziger
Am Scheitel geschnitten ergibt dieser Bogen zwei Fünfundvierziger, jeder mit einem geraden Ende und einem frischen Schnitt. Nützlich zu wissen, wenn eine Aufgabe einen rechten Winkel und eine flache Ecke braucht und nur ein Artikel im Regal liegt.
Verformung beim Abkühlen
Eine Naht zieht beim Erstarren, und an einem rechten Winkel wirkt dieser Zug quer über die Ecke statt entlang einer Linie. Vier Punkte heften, mit dem Winkel prüfen, dann in gegenüberliegenden Vierteln schweißen — ein Neunziger, von einer Seite durchgehend rundum geschweißt, ist danach keiner mehr.
Den reduzierbaren Winkel kaufen
Ein rechter Winkel lässt sich mit der Säge in alles Flachere verwandeln. Ein Dreißiger lässt sich nicht vergrößern. Solange die Geometrie nicht feststeht, ist der schärfere Artikel der sicherere auf der Werkbank.
