Design, Verarbeitung und Tradition
Puig fertigt seit 1964 Verkleidungs-, Schutz- und Aerodynamikkomponenten, und diese Erfahrung zeigt sich in jedem Detail dieser Schutzblechverlängerung. Die Verlängerung ist kein nachträglicher Anbau: Ihr Profil orientiert sich direkt an der Geometrie des Original-Schutzblechs der DL1000 V-strom, sodass das fertige Ergebnis integriert wirkt statt angebaut. Die schwarze ABS-Oberfläche behält eine gleichmäßig matte Qualität, die auch bei Adventure-Bikes gut altert, die regelmäßig Sonne, Steinschlag und Geländedreck ausgesetzt sind.
Für Fahrer, die ihre V-strom bestimmungsgemäß nutzen – beladene Touren, Pendeln bei jedem Wetter, Erkundungen auf Feld- und Waldwegen – leistet dieser Frontspritzschutz still einen wichtigen Dienst. Er hält Bremskomponenten, Kühlerrippen und Kabelbäume zwischen den Wartungen sauberer und reduziert das Spritzwasser, das den Fahrer bei nasser Fahrbahn erreicht.
Leistung und Schutz
Die Schutzblechverlängerung wirkt, indem sie den effektiven Abdeckungsbereich des Schutzblechs verlängert und die Vorderkante tiefer und weiter nach vorne relativ zur Reifenaufstandsfläche bringt. Diese geometrische Änderung fängt Schmutz und Wasser in einem flacheren Winkel ab und verringert die Energie, mit der Steine und Splitt empfindliche Bauteile erreichen. Die Spritzschutzfunktion ist bei der DL1000 besonders wertvoll, da der Kühler direkt hinter dem Vorderrad sitzt und allem, was das Serien-Schutzblech verfehlt, ungeschützt ausgesetzt ist.
ABS-Kunststoff wurde wegen seiner Balance aus Steifigkeit und Stoßabsorption gewählt – er gibt bei Steinschlag nach, statt zu reißen, und widersteht der UV-Zersetzung und den Temperaturwechseln, die günstigere Materialien mit der Zeit schwächen.
