Verarbeitungsqualität und Materialien
In der Produktionsstätte in Barcelona wendet Puig für seine straßenzugelassenen Motorspoiler dieselben Fertigungsstandards an wie für seine rennstreckenerprobten Aero-Kit-Komponenten. Die ABS-Schale wird mit engen Toleranzen gefertigt, wobei die chemikalienbeständige Oberflächenschicht direkt ins Material eingearbeitet und nicht als separate Beschichtung aufgetragen wird. Das bedeutet, die Oberfläche blättert nicht ab, verblasst nicht und benötigt keine regelmäßige Nachbesserung – ein praktischer Vorteil für ein Motorrad, das sowohl Autobahnkilometer als auch Trackdays erlebt. Die 2 mm starke Stahlmontagehardware erhält eine Korrosionsschutzbehandlung, die Salz, Feuchtigkeit und Straßenchemikalien widersteht, die freiliegende Halterungen mit der Zeit typischerweise angreifen.
Aerodynamische Leistung und Straßeneinsatz
Der Begriff „Motorspoiler" wird dem, was dieses Seitenteil tatsächlich leistet, kaum gerecht. Das im virtuellen Windkanal validierte Bauteil steuert die Luftströmung unter dem Triebwerk der KTM 1290 Superduke GT, reduziert Verwirbelungen und verbessert die Stabilität bei den Geschwindigkeiten, die der 1301-cm³-V2-Motor mühelos erreicht. Fahrer, die bereits Zubehör-Aero-Kits an ihrer Superduke montiert haben, werden den Vorteil sofort auf schnellen Autobahnspuren und in weitläufigen Landstraßenkurven bemerken. Über die Aerodynamik hinaus wirkt der Spoiler als physische Barriere und fängt Steinschlag, Straßenschmutz und Schlamm ab, bevor sie das untere Motorgehäuse, die Ölleitungen und weitere Komponenten erreichen können.
