Kanäle im Kopf verbinden Zylinder und Ausgleichsbehälter. Wer beim Zerlegen ohnehin offen ist, tauscht die Verschleißpositionen gleich mit — ein zweites Öffnen kostet mehr als das Teil. Öhlins fertigt Serviceteile in denselben Toleranzen wie die Erstausrüstung; ein Nachbau trifft die Passung selten. Riefen im Rohr bedeuten Ölverlust, auch wenn die Dichtung neu ist. Die Oberfläche wird nach dem Honen gespült, damit kein Schleifrückstand ins Öl gerät.

Öhlins führt diese Position in der Explosionszeichnung der zugehörigen Einheit unter 00313-07. Bei Zweirohrsystemen trägt das äußere Rohr keine Dämpfung, sondern führt das Öl zurück. Die Bohrung für die Welle ist enger toleriert als die Außenkontur.
