Als Maß nennt Öhlins Durchmesser 46 mm, Länge 26 mm. Nach einem Sturz lohnt die Prüfung auf Verzug, auch wenn das Rohr äußerlich unbeschädigt wirkt. Riefen im Rohr bedeuten Ölverlust, auch wenn die Dichtung neu ist. Innen liegende Anschläge begrenzen den Kolbenweg und sind Teil des Rohrs.

Außen trägt das Rohr oft die Aufnahme für Reservoir oder Ausgleichsbehälter. Die Oberfläche wird nach dem Honen gespült, damit kein Schleifrückstand ins Öl gerät. Öhlins hält Positionen oft über Modellgenerationen hinweg gleich, tauscht aber ohne Ankündigung Werkstoffe.
Der Kopf schließt den Zylinder ab und führt die Welle nach außen. Für die Überholung einer kompletten Einheit stellen wir den Teilesatz auf Wunsch zusammen. Öhlins prüft jedes Rohr nach der Bearbeitung auf Rundheit.
