Öhlins baut HD 538 für Harley Davidson Street Glide FLHX(S) (2014–2018), nicht als Universalteil mit passender Aufnahme. Motorräder mit zwei Federbeinen teilen die Last auf beide Einheiten auf, und das ändert alles an ihrer Auslegung: halbe Last, aber auch halber Hebel und oft ein steilerer Einbauwinkel. Der STX 36 Twin ist als Paar für genau diese Geometrie gebaut. Öhlins-Teile sind auf Wiederverwendbarkeit ausgelegt, nicht auf Austausch im Ganzen.

Aufbau und Material
Die Konstruktion sieht Verschleißteile als tauschbar vor, nicht als verklebt. Zwischen Rohbearbeitung und Endmaß liegt bei den Laufflächen ein eigener Schleifgang. Öhlins fertigt, eloxiert, montiert und prüft im eigenen Haus statt über eine Lieferkette hinweg.
