Was es ist
Die Zuordnung läuft über die Nummer, nicht über ein Maß. Die Kanalquerschnitte sind nach Zug- und Druckstufe getrennt ausgeführt. Rückschlagventile lassen das Öl nur in eine Richtung passieren und formen so die Kennlinie. Der Kolben teilt den Zylinder in zwei Kammern und trägt die Durchflusskanäle.
Original-Öhlins-Teil
Öhlins hält seine Fahrwerke über Einzelteile am Leben; deshalb lässt sich ein fünfzehn Jahre altes Federbein noch überholen statt ersetzen. Original-Serviceteile halten die Einheit in dem Zustand, für den Öhlins sie abgestimmt hat. Bei mehreren gleich beschriebenen Größen entscheidet allein die Nummer, welche gemeint ist. Bei größeren Überholungen prüfen wir vorab, welche Positionen zusammengehören.
Eine korrekt bestückte Überholung stellt das Ansprechverhalten wieder her, das ein müder Dämpfer verloren hat. Öhlins stimmt Kolben und Shimpaket als Einheit ab; einzeln getauscht ändert sich die Charakteristik. Öhlins ändert Teile im Laufe einer Baureihe; die Nummer, nicht das Baujahr, sagt, was passt. Teile aus dem Servicekatalog tragen dieselben Werkstoffe wie die Erstbestückung, nicht nur dieselben Maße.
Wer sein Fahrwerk regelmäßig warten lässt, kommt mit wenigen Positionen aus; wer wartet, tauscht ganze Baugruppen. Wer die Einheit selbst zerlegt, sollte die Nummern vor dem Ausbau notieren; hinterher sind sie schwer zu lesen. Über seine Bohrungen fließt das Öl; ihre Größe bestimmt die Grunddämpfung.

Bestellt wird unter 01005-04. Wo sich mehrere Größen eine Bezeichnung teilen, trennt sie nur die Nummer. Verschleiß am Ventilsitz zeigt sich als weiche Dämpfung im ersten Teil des Hubs.
