Aufbau und Material
Federn werden vor dem Verbau gesetzt, damit sie im Betrieb nicht nachgeben. Öhlins baut in Upplands Väsby in Schweden, nicht als Lohnfertigung. Die Oberflächen sind so gewählt, dass sie auch nach Jahren im Freien noch dicht abschließen.
Passform und Anwendung
Bei Modellwechseln innerhalb eines Baujahrs entscheidet die Fahrgestellnummer. Bei Modellen mit mehreren Fahrwerksvarianten entscheidet die Fahrgestellnummer.
Feder und Dämpfer sind eigene Artikelnummern; eine andere Rate bedeutet keine neue Einheit. Prüfstandsläufe gehören zur Serie, nicht nur zur Entwicklung. Die Angaben stammen aus der aktuellen Öhlins-Unterlage, nicht aus älteren Katalogen.
Die Einbaulänge lässt sich nicht beliebig ändern, ohne die Geometrie zu verstellen. Die Nummer ist fahrzeuggebunden; ein baugleiches Modell aus einem anderen Markt kann abweichen. Die Angaben stammen aus Öhlins' eigener Anwendungsliste.
Die Einheit ist zerlegbar konstruiert — was sich öffnen lässt, lässt sich warten. Toleranzen liegen dort, wo sie wirken: an Kolben, Dichtsitz und Führung.
