Nach Öhlins-Angabe: Innendurchmesser 52 mm, Schnurstärke 2 mm, Werkstoff NBR 70. Ein O-Ring altert auch ungenutzt; das Herstellungsdatum steht auf der Verpackung. O-Ringe werden über den Innendurchmesser und die Schnurstärke bestimmt, nicht über den Außendurchmesser.

Die Nut gibt die Verpressung vor; zu wenig dichtet nicht, zu viel zerstört den Ring. Der Werkstoff muss zur Öltemperatur passen, sonst härtet der Ring aus. Der Werkstoff ist auf die Öltemperatur abgestimmt, die im Betrieb entsteht.

Wer unsicher ist, misst nach — die Angaben unten stammen aus der Öhlins-Serviceliste, 00638-71 ist die zugehörige Nummer. Nach dem Einbau wird die Einheit kurz durchgefedert, bevor sie unter Druck gesetzt wird. Beim Einbau entscheidet die Sauberkeit: ein Staubkorn genügt für eine Undichtigkeit.
