Funktion
Die Serviceliste führt Dimension A 65 mm, Dimension B 84 mm, Dimension C 11 mm. Nach vielen Jahren verlieren Federn einen Teil ihrer Länge und damit Vorspannung. Öhlins wickelt Federn aus Chrom-Silizium-Stahl und setzt sie vor der Auslieferung. Vorspannung ändert die Höhe, nicht die Rate.

Öhlins hält seine Fahrwerke über Einzelteile am Leben; deshalb lässt sich ein fünfzehn Jahre altes Federbein noch überholen statt ersetzen. Verschleiß zeigt sich zuerst an den Dichtflächen; Riefen dort bedeuten meist, dass mehr als eine Position fällig ist. Öhlins ändert Teile im Laufe einer Baureihe; die Nummer, nicht das Baujahr, sagt, was passt.

Öhlins führt diese Position in der Explosionszeichnung der zugehörigen Einheit unter 05193-13. Federn sind Verschleißteile mit langer Lebensdauer, aber keiner unendlichen. Die Lackierung schützt vor Korrosion, die an einer belasteten Feder zum Bruch führen kann.
