Funktion
Zu dieser Position nennt Öhlins kein Maß; maßgeblich ist die Zeichnung der Einheit. Beim Nachfüllen wird zuerst entlüftet und dann Gas gegeben. Der Schlauch verbindet Dämpfer und Behälter und muss den vollen Systemdruck tragen. Ein Trennkolben hält Gas und Öl auseinander und hat eine eigene Dichtung.

Wer beim Zerlegen ohnehin offen ist, tauscht die Verschleißpositionen gleich mit — ein zweites Öffnen kostet mehr als das Teil. Der Wert eines Öhlins-Fahrwerks liegt in seiner Wartbarkeit — Ersatzteile gibt es für Baureihen, die längst aus dem Programm sind.

Bestellt wird unter 00161-12. Wo sich mehrere Größen eine Bezeichnung teilen, trennt sie nur die Nummer. Fällt der Gasdruck, wird die Dämpfung im Verlauf des Hubs unregelmäßig. Das Reservoir nimmt das Öl auf, das die einfahrende Welle verdrängt.
