Der seitliche Lenkungsdämpfer-Montagesatz von Melotti Racing für die YZF-R7 verlagert den Dämpfer auf die linke Rahmenseite und die untere Lenkplatte, in zwei CNC- und 3D-gefrästen Anticorodal-Aluminiumteilen, sodass der Hydraulik mehr statt weniger nutzbarer Hub zur Verfügung steht, um einem plötzlichen Lenkerschlagen zu widerstehen.

Fertigung und Materialgüte
Beide Elemente des Kits werden aus dem vollen Anticorodal-Aluminiumblock mit CNC-Maschinen und 3D-Technologie gefräst und anschließend natur eloxiert statt lackiert. Das Element für die linke Rahmenseite verankert das Kit am Fahrwerk, während das zweite Element an der unteren Lenkplatte verschraubt wird und den Dämpferkörper selbst trägt; Montageschrauben und Unterlegscheiben liegen dem Kit bei, sodass nichts zusätzlich beschafft werden muss. Warum seitlich montiert – und warum nur an rennvorbereiteten Motorrädern
Melotti Racing hat dieses Kit genau deshalb entwickelt, weil ein seitlich montierter Lenkungsdämpfer ein schnelleres, weicheres und progressiveres hydraulisches Ansprechverhalten liefert als dieselbe Einheit quer über der Gabelbrücke. Bei einer bestimmten Lenkerbewegung während eines heftigen Pendelns hat ein seitlich montierter Dämpfer mehr seines Hubs zur Verfügung, um dieser Bewegung zu widerstehen, als einer, der quer am Motorrad sitzt – deshalb beschränkt der Hersteller den Einbau auf Wettbewerbsmaschinen mit bereits begrenztem Lenkeinschlag, ausschließlich für den Renneinsatz. Eine so aufgebaute YZF-R7 ist kein beiläufiges Upgrade; es wird voraussetzt, dass Lenkanschlag, Dämpferhub und der übrige Vorderbau bereits auf den Rennbetrieb abgestimmt sind.
Passform und Kompatibilität
Dieses Kit führt Melotti Racing für die YZF-R7 ab Baujahr 2021, und der Einbau setzt voraus, dass das Motorrad bereits einen begrenzten Lenkeinschlag nutzt oder nutzen wird, etwa den des eigenen Lenkanschlags von Melotti für dieses Modell. Die YZF-R7 passt außerdem zum Schnellwechsel-Kotflügelhalter von Melotti, der sich gemeinsam bestellen lässt.
Straßenzulassung
Für dieses Kit liegt keine Typgenehmigung oder Prüfbescheinigung vor, und Melotti Racing beschränkt den Einbau ausschließlich auf den Wettbewerbseinsatz. Eine damit ausgestattete YZF-R7 darf in Deutschland ohne separate Zulassung nicht im öffentlichen Straßenverkehr bewegt werden, bei Rennveranstaltungen regelt das Reglement des Veranstalters die Anforderungen.
