Was der Umbausatz übrig lässt
Der Original-Schaltblock verliert in der Regel seine Halterung. Diese Einheit stellt die Funktionen wieder her und ordnet sie für einen Fahrer an, der sie ständig nutzt.
Ein zweiter Block
Er ergänzt, statt zu ersetzen. Das direkt zu sagen vermeidet das Missverständnis, das für die meisten Rücksendungen bei solchen Teilen verantwortlich ist.
Ein eloxiertes Finish
Titanfarben, abgestimmt auf die Schnellgasgriff-Hardware. Neben goldenem Fahrwerk und roter Verkleidung ist das die Option, die einem ohnehin schon unruhigen Cockpit am wenigsten hinzufügt.

Stärker abgedichtet, als es ein Straßenmotorrad benötigt. Bei einem Motorrad, das echte Strecken durch echtes Wetter zurücklegt, ist genau diese Reserve das, wofür man bezahlt.
Nichts gespleißt
Vorverkabelt mit Ducatis Stecker. Der Umbau lässt sich in derselben Zeit zurückbauen, in der er montiert wurde, und lässt den Kabelbaum unangetastet.
Dreiundneunzig Newtonmeter
Verfügbar schon deutlich unter fünftausend Umdrehungen, genau dort, wo ein Fahrer auf einer Bergstraße tatsächlich arbeitet. Die SuperSport ist auf die Mitte abgestimmt, nicht auf den oberen Bereich.
Ein Stahl-Gitterrohrrahmen bei Straßentempo
Ducati behielt einen konventionellen Rahmen, während die Superbikes längst darauf verzichteten. Die dadurch entstehende Rückmeldung ist auf öffentlicher Straße nützlicher als zusätzliche Steifigkeit.
Leise verkauft, lange behalten
Die 950 S hat die Verkaufscharts nie beunruhigt und taucht noch ein Jahrzehnt später in Garagen auf. Diese Lücke ist das Ehrlichste, was man über sie sagen kann.
Eine Verkleidung, die sich lohnt
Genug Verkleidung, um bei Autobahntempo den Wind abzuhalten, und nicht so viel, dass das Motorrad zum Superbike wird, auf dem man sitzt. Ducati fand diese Balance im ersten Versuch und musste sie seither nicht mehr überarbeiten – seltener, als es klingt, in einer Kategorie, die alle anderen immer wieder aufgeben.
