Massives Ergal statt Guss
Das Gehäuse wird aus einem einzigen Ergal-Block gefräst statt gegossen oder geformt. Ergal ist eine hochfeste Aluminiumlegierung, sodass das fertige Bauteil am Lenker leicht bleibt und den Stößen und Vibrationen standhält, denen ein schnell drehender Gasgriff im Dauerbetrieb ausgesetzt ist.
Elektronisch statt mechanisch
Es handelt sich um einen Ride-by-Wire-Gasgriff: Er sendet ein elektronisches Signal an die Drosselklappe, statt einen Seilzug zu ziehen. Die Hypermotard V2 890 setzt auf eine aufrechte, supermoto-artige Sitzposition, die schnelle, selbstbewusste Gasbefehle aus der Kurve und vom Start weg begünstigt. Der kürzere Drehwinkel passt zu dieser Haltung und erlaubt volles Gas mit weniger Handbewegung bei den Stehstarts und schnellen Richtungswechseln, für die das Motorrad bekannt ist.
