Die Überarbeitung von 2017
KTM gab der Super Duke einen neuen Rahmen, eine überarbeitete Sitzposition und ein deutlich besseres Elektronikpaket mit Kurven-ABS und schräglagenabhängiger Traktionskontrolle. Es war die Generation, die aus einem wilden Motorrad ein alltagstaugliches machte, ohne es zu zähmen.
Hundertsiebenundsiebzig PS
Aus einem 1301-cm³-V2 in einem Motorrad mit unter 200 Kilogramm ohne Verkleidung. Die Werte waren 2017 absurd und sind heute noch wettbewerbsfähig, was etwas darüber sagt, wie weit KTM den LC8 bis dahin entwickelt hatte.
Ausgerichtete Klemmschrauben
Beide Schrauben auf einer Linie rechtwinklig zum Lenker, passend zu KTMs eigener Brembo-Anordnung. Ein Motorrad, das noch den Werksbremszylinder trägt, hat diese Bohrung und nicht die versetzte.
Wo das Original nachgibt
Das serienmäßige Gehäuse besteht aus zwei um den Lenker geklippten Schalen. Über mehrere Saisons entwickeln sie ein wenig Spiel gegeneinander, und die Tasten, die über die Fuge reichen, bestätigen nichts mehr, ohne dass der Fahrer es merkt.
Ein großer Zweizylinder über den Lenker
Dreizehnhundert Kubikzentimeter in zwei Zylindern erzeugen einen niederfrequenten Schlag, der Verschraubungen löst, die ein Reihenvierzylinder in Ruhe lässt. Ein einteilig gefrästes Gehäuse mit verschraubter Klemme hält, wo geklippte Hälften mit der Zeit nachgeben.

Eine symbolische Scheibe und sonst nichts. Regen erreicht die Schalteinheit bei Fahrtgeschwindigkeit und bleibt dort, und die Nahtstelle einer zweiteiligen Baugruppe ist genau dort, wo er Probleme verursacht, die sich schwer aufspüren lassen.
Zwei Eloxal-Farben
Schwarz und Orange, beide durch die Oberfläche eingebracht. Orange taucht bereits an KTMs Rahmenrohren und Grafiken auf, was es im Cockpit zu einer Fortsetzung macht statt zu etwas Neuem.
