Die Fähigste der Baureihe
WP-Gabeln mit mehr Federweg, ein 21-Zoll-Vorderrad, Speichenfelgen und Offroad-Modus. Die 1090 R ist leichter als die 1290 und leistungsstärker als die 790, was sie für einen bestimmten Fahrertyp zur besten großen Reiseenduro macht, die KTM je gebaut hat.
Warum sie gesucht ist
KTM stellte die 1090 2019 ein und ersetzte sie nie direkt. Die 890 ist kleiner und die 1290 schwerer, und Fahrer, die genau das wollten, was die 1090 R bot, kaufen seitdem Gebrauchte zu entsprechenden Preisen.
Gefahren, wo sie umfällt
Eine Adventure R wird gekauft, um abseits des Asphalts bewegt zu werden, was bedeutet, dass sie mit einiger Regelmäßigkeit im Schritttempo umfällt. Das Lenkerende erreicht den Boden früh, und ein gefrästes Ergal-Gehäuse schrammt dort, wo eine geklipste Spritzgussfläche aufbricht.
Stundenlang im Stehen
Die Ergonomie geht im groben Gelände von den Fußrasten statt vom Sitz aus, was den Winkel, in dem der Daumen auf die Bedienelemente trifft, vollständig verändert. Gefräste Konturen zwischen den Tasten funktionieren aus beiden Positionen, wo ein aufgedrucktes Symbol aus keiner funktioniert.
Schmutz ist das Problem
Feiner Staub arbeitet sich in einen Kontakt ein und bleibt dort, was ihn zerstörerischer macht als Wasser. Abgedichtete Schaltelemente in einem Gehäuse ohne Gussfuge geben ihm keinen Weg hinein, und bei einem nach jeder Fahrt abgespritzten Motorrad ist das durchgehend von Bedeutung.
Universelle Klemmgeometrie
Handschutzbügel, Lenkererhöhungen und oft eine andere Bremspumpe konkurrieren alle um denselben Lenkerabschnitt. Die Platte nimmt beide Schraubenanordnungen auf, was den Cockpitaufbau flexibel hält, während das Motorrad über eine Saison hinweg eingerichtet wird.
Weit vom Netz entfernt
Diese Motorräder werden gefahren, wo ein Händler weit entfernt ist. Eine Komponente, die unwahrscheinlich ausfällt, ist an einem solchen Motorrad mehr wert als es ein Ersatzteil wäre, und das ist das praktische Argument für dieses Teil.
