Das ausgerichtete Lochbild
Beide Befestigungsschrauben auf einer Achse, passend zu einer der beiden Klemmen. Eine S hatte häufig schon eine andere Bremsanlage, weshalb die Prüfung die dreißig Sekunden wert ist.

Eine elektrolytische Oberfläche
Die Eloxierung wandelt die oberste Schicht des Aluminiums chemisch um. Nichts liegt auf dem Metall, sodass nichts durch einen Handschuh, einen Stiefel oder ein umgefallenes Motorrad abgeplatzt werden kann.
Oxidation über einen Winter
Ein feucht gewordener Kontakt bildet einen resistiven Film. Die Funktion arbeitet, dann manchmal, dann gar nicht mehr, und der gesamte Vorgang nimmt den größten Teil eines Jahres in Anspruch.
Zwanzig Minuten, vollständig reversibel
Nirgendwo im Kabelbaum wird gespleißt. Der Serienblock sitzt vor einem Verkauf in derselben Zeit wieder, die der Ausbau gedauert hat, ohne Spuren der Änderung.
Wiederholbarkeit
Ein gefrästes Bauteil ist vom ersten bis zum letzten Stück maßlich identisch. Gegossene Teile wandern mit dem Alter des Werkzeugs, weshalb die Passung zwischen Exemplaren desselben Teils variiert.
Brembo M50
Ducati verbaute einen Superbike-Bremssattel an einem Motorrad mit aufrechtem Lenker. Die Bremsleistung übersteigt deutlich, was das Chassis umsetzen kann, und das ist genau die richtige Reserve.
Elf Grad Überlappung
Die reduzierte Ventilüberschneidung machte einen Rennmotor im Bereich unter dreitausend Umdrehungen überhaupt fahrbar. Ohne sie wäre der 1198-cm³-Testastretta im Alltag unbrauchbar.
Sitzhöhen und Lenkerpositionen
Ducati bot an der 1200 mehrere von beidem an. Das ist ungewöhnliche Rücksichtnahme von diesem Hersteller und ein Grund, warum das Modell ein so breites Spektrum an Besitzern gefunden hat.
